I figured it out: I needed to install the relevant gtk2-engines-nimbus package. Now I can install the whole theme. There is a problem with window titles however: the font used in window titles is white on gray background, which is pretty unreadable. I switched to zukitwo theme with sun-nimbus icon theme. Thanks again.

Hello! I love the them and thanks a lot for the work. I am trying to install the nimbus-gtk3-theme on Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bit, Unity), through Software center and get this error: "Dependency is not satisfiable: gtk2-engines-nimbus" I am not really linux-savvy and appreciate any help in overcoming this error. I have been able to install just the icon set. Would love to install the whole theme.
