| ctrl+enter Jan 7 2004 on content Kopete | Is there a way to send messages without having to do ctrl+enter? I find this highly annoying. It really gets to me after awhile. Kopete is a great client and it really does do everything I want from an IM client, but until I can just hit enter to send a message, I have to keep using Gaim. :\ |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Amazing Dec 22 2003 on content Baghira | This is, without a doubt, the best theme I've ever used for not just KDE, but ANY WM I've ever used. This theme is so complete and well done it borders on the rediculous. Its even got its own control panel. Nuts! Even better, its aware of color schemes. This means you can theme the theme! Absolutely brilliant.
The new animations are pretty slick too. Excellent work on this one. |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | What a mess Dec 4 2003 on Discussion | Why is this site such a mess lately? Why are there 900 different versions of Baghira on the first 2 pages? Ok, its a nice Style/Theme/etc but come on already! Next, there is no cookie based login. That means that every single time I click something to check it out, going back logs me out and I get thrown back to "All but screenshots". All but screenshots is a bad option anyway, I'd rather see peoples screenshots then all the crapass wallpapers.
This site is driving me nuts. Its not that its bad, or that its community is bad, but there are one or two serious design flaws here that REALLY take away from the experience. As basically THE source for KDE related themes/improvments, you'd think that this place would have a bit better of a design. You're reflecting all of KDE here. |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Valid copywrite? Nov 30 2003 on content Not stolen! | How exactly did you copyright your images? Just putting "Copyrighted by " doesn't mean its legally copyrighted. I'm not saying its moral or ethical to take/use other peoples work, but people who do this so-called 'digital artwork' who then slap copyright notices all over their images/web sites don't actually have legal recourse.
On top of that, using copyrighted work without permission is NOT theft. There is a legal distinction between theft and copyright violation. The only legal recourse you have, provided you actually have a valid copyright, is to sue to get someone to stop using it and/or for the direct damages caused to you by them using it. Of which, I highly doubt there has been any.
In short: Quit you whining and don't bother slapping fake copyright notices on your images.
Good day. ^_^ |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | asdf Nov 21 2003 on content First desktop | Both the background and the icon set are from deviantart. That site is horribly slow at all times, so forgive me for not giving a link. Just take a look through the OSX wallpapers and the Windows icons and you should find both. As for the bar, thats the improved Tuxbar with smooth scaling and the replacement iconset.
The iTunes is a project I'm working on. I'll post it here when I'm done with it and its fully functional. It makes me drool though. :D |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Re: freedesktop.org X Nov 19 2003 on Discussion | I've actually used this and its pretty nice. The snapshot I installed from didn't support KDE 3.1.4, though so I only tested it with Gnome 2.4, but I read recently that the newest version in CVS does support KDE. Its pretty neat to play with and the drop shadows are done quite well. Two problems with it so far:
1. It uses Vesa, either the framebuffer driver or just normal Vesa 3.0 mode. The problem with this is that its not accelerated and I don't see nVidia/ATI making a new set of drivers for this specific X server any time soon. This means no gaming while using it.
2. If your card isn't Vesa 3.0 complient, you're screwed. You'd be supprised how many aren't. I just upgraded from a Geforce 3 to a Geforce FX and the FX can do a max of 800x600 using Vesa, while the Geforce 3 was able to do 1280x1024. This means if I want to run the server, I'm stuck at 800x600.
Still though, for Alpha software and the huge task they've taken on, this thing works pretty darn good. I'm impressed, even if I could only see it at 800x600. I can't wait until this project matures. |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Strange error Nov 11 2003 on content Blue Milk !!! | I love this theme. The colors are perfect. Its got a Mac-ish style to it, but finally people are starting to get away from the 'blue bubbles' that seem to have plagued the Linux theming community.
I've been using Linux for awhile now but I just switched over from Gnome (which I'd been using for years) and so I'm basically a newbie with KDE. The error I'm getting is with the 'install.sh' script.
1 - Looking for KDE home directories (this may take quite a while!)
2 - Copying files ..... Done!
3 - Announce style
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
4 - Blue-Milk style and IceWM window decoration installation completed.
No idea what that means. Also, the colors show up fine (I love them!) and the vertical scroll bar is fine, but the horizontal one is totally messed up and the colors don't apply to the menu bar.
Any help with this would be great because, again, I think this theme is fantastic. |
