Thank you |

ad 2: the style and deco share the background, if there's no style the deco will have to use a fallback - that's currently a gradient with a shadow below (and another gradient if you want)
i'm open for any suggestions on this (NOTICE: has to look ok even with motif apps ;)
im sorry but i dont understand, does that mean that the line separating kwin deco and the main window is OK on non-Qt4 apps ?
anyway here is a screenshot of kwin deco on different apps: http://s3.tinypic.com/2ppbqdz.jpg

| | | Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: compile failure May 10 2008 on content Bespin | ohh now i see why i was not notified for your reply.
now im on rev179 and everything is fine, the crossfade animation is damn sexy (i really mean it), you are the man (next time i visit Germany i owe you a beer), also the hack that lets you drag windows from menubar, toolbar and docks is great too.
recently i upgraded to kde 4.0.4, Qt 4.4 and also made a kernel upgrade (incld. the ati driver) and one of those recovered my problem (it wasn't the styles fault).
regarding the kwin4-dev that i mentioned earlier (for ubuntu), i found out that its part of `kdebase-workspace-dev` package and now im enjoying even the kwin style.
now let me report you some minor bugs (which may be happening only to me because style's configuration might got messed up):
1. the toolbar separator (the three vertical dots) is only being visible if i hover the toolbar (IIRC they used to be visible all the time, and when i hovered the toolbar they turned blue), otherwise its invisible all the time;
2. a kwin style issue: im using the same gradient for kwin as for the main window which darkens on the sides and they both look solid (no separator between kwin and main window) and it looks pretty cool, but im having a 2px solid gray color separator (over the menubar) for non-Qt4 apps.
also can you answer (if you understood what i was trying to say) on the wishlist regarding RGBA @ http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1955614&group_id=201276&atid=976910
thank you |
| | | Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: compile failure May 5 2008 on content Bespin | i just installed rev156 and it seems to be the same issue, probably something wrong with the drivers (sorry for pointing it out).
i inspected the transition glitches, and for normal tabs (i mean those not loaded with lots of content but only with several text labels and controls) the transition is pretty good (as expected) while the transition between a normal tab vs a little bit more loaded tab (or two loaded tabs against each other), starts good and somehow the last frames get chopped up (not rendered as they should, you know i see a white colored tab which fades away immediately),
btw the rendering problem seems to be with the drivers as i recently upgraded the distro

| | | Re: Make error May 5 2008 on content Bespin | it seems that you dont have kwin-dev (dev files, needed for bespin kwin style) or maybe you do but they are not on the path where bespin config script looks at, so my suggestion is to edit qmake.pro (after you run the configure script) and remove "SUBDIRS += kwin" (it skips the kwin style) and everything should be fine. |
| | | Re: Re: Re: Re: compile failure May 5 2008 on content Bespin | Quote:
would have been bespin.pro - not qmake.pro (that's the general thing calling some subdir pros, not sure if the LIBS flag is exported)
silly me, i edited qmake.pro, now rev173 is fixed regarding Xrender on bespin.pro,
Quote:
nevertheless, you may want to try rev. 172 or 173 - has an upgraded config script, but MAY segfault on 64bit arches
im on 32bit arch and everything seems to be alright so far,
Quote:
you may want to share your results with me then ;)
i can notice some cosmetic changes (good ones) with rev173;
also in the last couple of revisions (that i compiled, not in numerical order) i can see some little glitches when switching tabs and using crossfade transition (also with other transitions) @ 250ms (using compositing), maybe the problem is with the floss ati drivers of my gfx card (radeon x800 xt) but the weird thing is that transitions used to be smoother on lets say 15X and 16X revisions (has Xrender anything to do here?);
ohh and one more thing, can you make somehow an option on the config script to disable kwin style, because ubuntu does not ship kwin4-dev package alongside kde4-dev and compilation fails (i have to checkout kwin on kde's svn).
thank you

| | | Re: Re: compile failure May 3 2008 on content Bespin | i added `LIBS += -lXrender` to the qmake.pro but still the same (it complained for XRender), so i compiled libbespin.so manually with:
g++ -Wl,--no-undefined -shared -o libbespin.so basic.o aprogress.o hover.o hoverindex.o hovercomplex.o tab.o colors.o bespin.o tileset.o stylehint.o sizefromcontents.o qsubcmetrics.o pixelmetric.o stdpix.o visualframe.o gradients.o init.o genpixmaps.o polish.o buttons.o docks.o frames.o input.o menus.o progress.o scrollareas.o shapes.o slider.o tabbing.o toolbars.o views.o window.o hacks.o xproperty.o oxrender.o moc_basic.o moc_aprogress.o moc_hover.o moc_hoverindex.o moc_tab.o moc_bespin.o moc_visualframe.o moc_hacks.o -L/usr/X11R6/lib -L/usr/lib -lXext -lX11 -lm -lQt3Support -lQtGui -lQtCore -lpthread -lXrender
just added -lXrender in the end, then i simply copied libbespin.so to /usr/lib/qt4/plugins/styles then im using bespin configuration tool from one of the last revisions.
and yes im using ubuntu (hardy)

btw, thank you very much for your (hard and smart) work on bespin and i must say that bespin is rocking and it outperforms oxygen style (current build) and other qt4 styles in every aspect (especially on customization of the style =) ) at least IMHO, other than that i have a wish for bespin (i also filed it on your wishlist @ sf [http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1955614&group_id=201276&atid=976910]), transparency support for the main window.
thank you |
