Good choice on differentiating the different notification types by coulours and icons. I think that a complete categorizing and prioritizing of notifications has to be done. For example, in your file copying notification, a download, upload, and any kind of file transfer (hell, even p2p file transfers, like amule or bitorrent, for example) would be under it.
In the update notification you have, if it's for security updates, it would also include firewall blocking. And so on. I think you're on the right track! |

I use an option in KMail to only mark as read, messages which are viewed during more than 4 seconds. This way I assure that only e-mails which I read are actually read. |

oh, and I really like your background, that's why I sugested this idea:)
I also think it's good for more than just being a background, like a banner ad, or for a poster in future kde presences (if K was added). I'm no kde developer, though. |

Could I give an idea for your wallpaper? After the earth symbol, add another bubble(sphere) with another symbol, the "K" symbol of kde inside it. Bellow it the label, in the same font and size: KDE.
