Re: KDE LOOK IS DEAD

Yes, kde-look definitely has a problem.

Too much quantity, not enough quality!

That makes it uninteresting to watch and lowers the impact of the good entries.

Feature request
Nov 8 2006  on content 'Q' DVD-Author

Hi!

Thanks for Q DVD Author, what a great program!

Would it be possible to add a graphical frontend to dvd-slideshow's Ken-Burns-Effect, so you can zoom in to some details or pan over the images, like slideshows are usually made in commercial documentaries? Also a possibilty to use a slight zoom in and out with a crossfade as default transition would be nice.

You'ld become my hero if you could combine these features with an OpenGL based preview, so you can easily experiment with the parameters. Sample code should be in one of the OpenGL based slideshow screensavers.

Re: Re: Crappy wallpaper

Sorry if my posting was too rude, it wasn't ment that way. But I still see some issues with wallpapers and all that stuff.

First, most of the photo wallpapers are in no way related to KDE, some are nice and some (more?) are really bad (and a non horizontal horizon or lots of noise are no matter of taste).

2nd, it gives kde-look an too amateurish taste, if you'll have to filter to find the real gems on this site (and there really are some) between all the screenshots and wallpapers. To me it looks more and more like one of these picture dump sites with some additional KDE related desktop stuff.

I am thankfull that someone spends time and money to keep kde-look up and running, but maybe the site needs a new layout at all. 30+ entries in the Content box on the left are also much too much for my taste, wouldn't you agree on that? Also to have different entries for different version of rpm's deb's ebuilds and tarballs of the same window decoration and all that between screenshots and wallpapers as the default page seems not like a good idea to me.

Now if you think that sounds even more rude than my first posting, sorry, I just want to start a discussion if kde-look couldn't be an even better site ;)

Crappy wallpapers
Jul 5 2005  on Discussion

Wouldn't it be a good idea to move the wallpapers, screenshots and KDE everywhere out of the list of the default kde-look page and move them into a separate section?

I'm tired to see all these "Now I have a digital camera, too" pictures, which are mostly unusable as a desktop background. Same for "My super duper all features on, black on dark-black screenshots"

KDE everywhere is nice but has no real use for the vistors of kde-look.

Also the navigation panel on the right needs a lot of cleanups.

Anyway thanks to the makers of kde-look, this shouldn't be a too harsh rant! ;)
