Is it all?
Oct 12 2002  on content SKY icons 0.7.3

Very nice icons. I haven't seen any prior versions. Is this just an add-on? Where can I get the complete set? Thanks!

not worth waiting
Jul 4 2002  on news GNOME 2.0

Everytime I complained about Gnome 2, I was told the installation had been wrong. The very truth is that both the Ximian RPMs and Garnome installed smoothly on my RH 7.3. What frustrates me the most is not Gnome 2 being buggy but its being rediculously unusable. Just try to create a panel!

no arguement here
Jul 3 2002  on poll What´s the most modern GUI?

Our opinions aren't really different. I absolutely agree that Linux is better than Windows in many aspects. But the subject here is about GUI. KDE is prettier than Windows XP if tastefully configured :-) But that doesn't make it a better GUI overall. At least, Konqueror is slower than Gnome's Nautilus and Windows Explorer. By the way, with a few tweaks, Windows XP can look very cool too. Check out one of my own skins: http://www.wincustomize.com/window.asp?Cmd=PREVIEW&source=http://www.wincustomize.com/library/accounts/eYz/ob/eYzBubbles.jpg

Kmail??????
Jul 1 2002  on poll What´s the most modern GUI?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

KMail can't even handle text auto-wrapping. It adds a hard carriage return at a user-specified width. Isn't that a pre-history behavior?

KMail doesn't know how to subscribe or unsubscribe IMAP folders.

take it easy
Jul 1 2002  on poll What´s the most modern GUI?

I've learned never to be serious about whatever being said in this community. In Gnome forums, many people do believe "Gnome 2 is much better than Mac OS X". What can I say?! If one day Microsoft releases all the source codes for Windows XP, will the Linux community still think Windows XP is the worst OS??????????

Yes, Consistency!
Jul 1 2002  on poll What´s the most modern GUI?

I agree with Deviant. Consistency is what qualifies a professional and mature GUI. And consistency is what's missing in all *nix GUIs. I love KDE not because I think it's the best GUI but because it's the best to play with. It's still a toy, though the closest to be a serious thing. No matter how you believe that the technologies behind KDE/Gnome are superior to those in other GUIs, both Mac OS X and Windows XP are consistent in every details and give users a COMPLETELY graphical interface. Of course, the biggest reason is they are both proprietary to their own OSes. Most limitations of KDE are actually those of Linux itself.

a disappointment
Jul 1 2002  on news GNOME 2.0

I've used several betas and Garnome for the final release. I really can't say that I like Gnome 2. It is buggy (crashes on very simple and common tasks) and has rediculously few options for UI configuration. Until more bugs are fixed and more Gnome 2 apps are available, stick with 1.4 (if you don't use KDE).

Any Light fans?
Jun 19 2002  on poll What´s the best KDE 3.0 style

It took me 1 minute to pick Light 3rd as my KDE style. And I have been using it for months. Tried all others, but none lasted more than half a day. Light 3rd is clean and stylish. It goes well with almost all window decorations. Is there really so few people who like it???
