| personally against.. Jan 16 2007 on content Parental Control | I hope NOT to spark a big discussion here, but I do see the point to include something like that.
I know that many do use such features as parental control. While I don't like it myself, I do agree that the option to install and use a parental control could at some point be necessary(?) to spread KDE desktop to new areas. Unless there would be more users leaving because of it ofcourse... |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | size and adress Oct 11 2006 on content Konquerer Navigation Bar | I must say I like the basic idea of a visual representation of history. However there is a limit of space on a screen, and I fear this would take up too much of it to make good use of the rest of the screen. Also in the new screenshot i discovered a new thing. If the pages overlap like you've made them, there will probably be a problem determining which adress to display in the adressbar. |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | my thougths Jul 20 2006 on content Clip your files | I don't think this kind of arranging of data would be for permanent sorting. However it would be great for short-term sorting/combining of data.
Let's say a case were I'm working on a project of some kind. I would go to my home directory some place and make a new folder for that, then inside that folder I would have all the things. One night I go over it and find 3 out of 15 files that needs to be thoroughly reviewed. I clip those three together and bring my laptop to the school the next day. Now I can easily see which 3 files needed reviewing.
I think I could think of a few thousands of other cases if it hadn't been for the dinner downstairs. |

| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | couple of mods May 29 2006 on content Konqueror 4.0 | very nice overall, but a couple of changes I think would make it even better, also these are mentioned above I think...
1. move the location/navigation down to the same line as or over the copy/paste.
2. enlarge location/navigation a little, the refresh wich along with up is probably the two buttons I use the most, and it's nice to be able to hit them...
3. put the single most used application over the icon, don't try to squezz(?) in the lot.
4. don't use an autohide on the righthand bar, but use an expand/collapse button along the edge. This is to avoid icons jumping around.
5. keep the places below information/preview. If it would be related places to the icon selected it would be even better.
6. make sure I can use this tomorrow :P
perhaps it became a bit more than a couple of things, but it's nothing big any of it I think, (atleast for us who write comments and draw mockups) |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | love it, but... Apr 18 2006 on content LoGloss SVG | I love the icons, however I'm not able to build an iconset using the supplied script.
I have tried to edit it, but it seems to need a whole lot of editing before it can build one for me, and then I'm kind of expecting others experince the same thing... |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Re: Tabs Apr 12 2006 on content Perspective K Menu | Not only that, although it looks good. No, it looks really good, it wouldn't be an effective menu to use either. To make such a menu for a display computer, or in a school or something would probably be great, but I don't think I would use it partly because it doesn't seem like an effective way to do it. |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Would need new sys Apr 2 2006 on content KDE 4 - Enterprise Manager Tool | This seems like a new skin on a more developed kopete to me, based on the mockups.
I have a feeling this is just repetition of what is alreay said, but perhaps if it's said sufficiently many times it will happen.
To make something like this work well you would have to get a status for everyone at any time. That means the system would need to know your current status at any time. Todays system for setting from a selection could work, but my own experience is that once enthusiasm is gone people wouldn't bother anymore.
The system would not so simply be able to determine by itself what your status is and how to get the messages to its destination as fast as required.
However I'm not sure it would have to be very complicated. The possibly new thing over most existing system in a system I've been thinking on for some time would be how to get the message to reach the recepient.I don't have programming skills outside php.
By using a importancyrating like in the mockup the system could try to send the message over more than one medium. However as this would use amongst others the phone system it could be best for corporations. If the message first was sent as IM. If the message was important or a certain status the computer would beep to attract attention. If there is no response, and importance is rated high enough the message would be forwarded to sms, possibly could even some secretary or someone who should know where this person is would get a message A is trying to reach B, where is B? If the message has low importancy it could be forwarded to email and sit there to wait. For highest importancy there could be status secific numbers the system could try to call, or perhaps the user just wants to refuse all incoming.
Probably would such a system be mainly for larger corporation and those might already have some system already.
Perhaps it could be something for Novell or RedHat to put in their enterprise editions.
Sorry that this got so long... |
