| ![-](/img/trans.gif) | | Small suggestion Jun 6 2014 on content kpackage4 | I would suggest the best way to improve development on this program is to add PackageKit support:
http://www.freedesktop.org/software/PackageKit/pk-using.html
That'll give you YUM (Fedora), Zypper (openSUSE), URPMI (Mageia), APT (Debian/Ubuntu) and likely others. |

Feb 8 2009 on poll How do you like KDE 4.2? | "My screen goes dark because of power management, even though I have turned off power management every single place I can find one. Then when I move the mouse the screen has been locked. And guess what... I turned off screen lock over and overt trying to prevent that from happening. I have a 36 digit password and my screen locks if I'm gone for more than five minutes. That's messed up like a son-of-a-bitch."
Actually, I have never not had this problem. KDE3, KDE4, they all suffered from this on my system... I actually suspect the REAL culprit is GNOME. GNOME programs insist on running certain services when they start, and first among them is gnome-screensaver, which happens to do GNOME power management. I find that it is this, not KDE, that keeps locking the screen. |

I suggest tossing Ark completely and using Q7Z instead. It works a whole lot better (though I do miss Ark), and I think Ark is likely dying (which would explain why it hasn't been fixed yet). |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Re: a Fork Dec 31 2008 on content Linux Unified Kernel | Putting the capabilities that make sense directly into the kernel will improve Linux support for compatible binaries, and it will speed up emulation (since at this point, it won't really BE emulation anymore...). |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Suggestion... Oct 23 2008 on content QtCurve (KDE4, KDE3, & Gtk2 Theme) | I'm willing to bet this is already handled, but I'm going to suggest it in case it isn't; KDE3 and KDE4 use different methods for storing the colors of the theme in kdeglobals. If it hasn't been adjusted already, would it be possible to get QtCurve to use the KDE4 colors for KDE3 programs, rather than looking in the KDE3 default place for colors that in all likelihood won't be set? |

| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | KDE4 stuff Jul 30 2008 on content audiokonverter (also for KDE4) | I figured I'd mention I have this sucker working with KDE4 as well; all you have to do is...
1) Put the files audioconvert.desktop and audiofrommovie.desktop into $KDEROOT/services/ServiceMenus/ (example: on Fedora, that's /usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/).
2) Edit both of them to add Type=Service to the [Desktop Entry] menu.
3) Add KonqPopupMenu/Plugin to the list of ServiceTypes; this tells Konqueror & Dolphin that this is an Action Menu in the new version.
That's it. You don't even have to patch the scripts, since they'll use the KDE4 kdialog instead of the KDE3 one, no problem. These adjustments will get the menus showing up in the right-click menus like they do in KDE3. |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Re: help me install Jul 16 2008 on content O3 | Well, you can use GetHotNewStuff to get it (there should be a Download button next to the option to change the theme in Configure Desktop, from which you simply select the theme you want and click Install), or you can install it yourself (depending on the theme, it may have to be compiled first, which simply requires a ./configure, make, make install run).
If it just says "Copy to $KDE4ROOT/share/apps/desktopthemes/" (and I've seen such before), know that generlaly, $KDE4ROOT is /usr (if there is an existing /usr/share/apps directory, that's probably it; just create a directory desktopthemes and put the theme in it). |
