I dont know why icons are so important to people. I love nice looking icons. When I first saw the xp oned I want crazy... long before I had XP installed I had used desktop architect to transform my win98 into a XP like desktop. But actually elverado your icons are better! Far better. The contrast of the clystal images make your eye "glue" to the icon, when you are searching for it. Even if XP's icons are 3d looking they are somewhat dull and murky. This was the only problem I had. Tho older icons for windows DID stand out better. Now your icons look great AND stand out!

Wow, KDE is getting better and better.
Its starting to look abit like XP though...
I am wondering... XP seems to have stolen some of its ideas from KDE and GNOME, but KDE 3.1 looks a but looks alot like like XP.
Who is the copycat?
as for ease of use (as a UI), I have to admit that XP wins... but I think KDE 3.1 will beat XP... cant wait to get it....
