Which linux distribution are you using?
Here on Debian/Sid (Sidux) x64 it is not working at all, I tried latest SVN (as of 27/06/2009) and got another error on configure:
"Could NOT find LibKNotificationItem-1" which is in kdelibs-experimental (not on Debian yet).
Will try the Kubuntu-package... |

What a pity this core functionality is not integrated even with KDE 4.2.x when it was working fine with KDE 3.5.x- hope for 4.3... |

Just discovered this great little gem through an article on Linux.com ("Audio conversion tools for Linux") as I had to convert a bunch of files and though there must be an easier way than writing a Perl script or converting by hand, one by one... strange both ffmpeg, sox and mpeg123 don't accept patterns for batch conversion...
I only stumbled across a usability issue: When selecting a target directory and then selecting a pattern from the popup, the path gets cleared and conversion does not work (stops at 4%) - when changing the path to "same as source directory" it worked very fast (on a core i7 920) and without any problems.
And yes, a KDE4-port would be nice but it is surely some effort to port over to the new frameworks for sound processing et al. So no top priority but nice to have imho... |

Thanks for the pointer - sadly NConvert does not seem to be available in packaged form, but I can always use alien for that, you are right.
For later (1.0?), having native packages would be great though, allowing smooth KDE-integration and easy installation, maybe you could work together with the authors of the required tools to release a debian (preferred) or rpm package..? |

Are there any packages available in .deb or .rpm format?
Seems like a nice and effective tool for my Services-menu, but I don't like to work through KDE's configuration just to try it out... (lazy/few time for experiments) |

just installed Basket 1.0 and it looks very promising, but I could not find the KPart in Kontact's part-list... |
