| A bit of an issue... Jun 7 2007 on content VistaBlack | Nice theme, actually. Although I had expected it was also going to skin the task bar; as per your screenshot.
The only REAL issue I'm having is that there seems to be extra noise near the top of every title bar on each window.
I have provided a screenshot.

Just did this install and was lookin' for a quick theme to brighten things up a bit. Easy to install otherwise.
System is P4 2.4 w/1GB RAM and Intel Onboard video. Nothin' special. Runnin' Mandriva 2007 Spring with all updates.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks. |

Ok. I know about Xerox. I know about that whole fiasco. (LOOK IT UP.)
What I CAN'T understand is...
WHY ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT IT!?
That is WAY old news. You're the ONLY person I've heard even mention it in the last 6 years!
What the hell does Xerox have to do with anything?
Chide me all you want. You're still an IDIOT.
And YES. It WAS somewhat of a 'personal attack'. One that was made in the hopes that you would...
...SHUT
...UP.
But of course idiots ALWAYS have more to say after being put in their place. *sighs*
You are obviously no exception.
As far as expressing yourself goes... AGAIN I ask you...
WHAT does that have to do with anything!?
Fine. You expressed an opinion about something that you're just learning about. Fine. But if you're going to express an opinion about the KDE desktop and make such adverse comments about someone's work... DON'T CONTRADICT YOUR OWN OPINION. You make no sense.
And no... All "DE's" are NOT based on Xerox. COPY MACHINES are based on Xerox these days. Desktop Environments are based on DESKTOP ENVIRONMENTS. They are based on the needs of the user. They are based on YEARS of trial and error in the pursuit of efficient ways to get work done. NO ONE COMPANY CAN CLAIM THAT CONCEPT because it is far too diverse and likely to be utilized the way it has been. Not Microsoft, Apple, Linux OR Xerox. Xerox just implemented it first. That's all the credit that can be given to them.
I REALLY don't understand why you even mentioned Xerox. You're obviously REALLY behind the times. It's VERY OLD NEWS.
Care to talk about the first gym-sized computer while you're at it?
And yes I DO have WinXP on my system. I simply CAN NOT believe you actually cited me for having that on my system. WOULD-BE ELITIST NEWBIES point their fingers at you for that. I still have it on my system for a HUGE list of reasons. First and foremost there is still far too much that I do that requires software that is developed ONLY for the WIN32 platform. While there may very well be applications to do anything you can think of in Linux...they are almost always in a constant state of rapid development. They change far too often. (Look at Sourceforge for instance.) This means that half of this software - while innovative - is still UNSTABLE. It still requires FAR more time to research, find, match versions THEN download all the required packages, binaries and programming API's or frontends than it would take to just switch to Windows and use something that I know WORKS and will give me the results I want...
...NOW.
And that isn't even including the time it takes to resolve errors such as package dependcies or compile problems.
A computer is there to do what you want it to do. As long as it does it...what does it matter HOW you do it? Linux, Windows, MacOS X... Who cares? If the computer accomplishes the task you give it with satisfactory results then it has ultimately served it's purpose; REGARDLESS of what operating system you have on that system.
So in other words... I will accomplish my objectives and tasks more efficiently and MUCH faster than you EVER would given a certain time frame.
By the time you (succesfully) config, make/compile and then FINALLY install half of the software it would take to rip a DVD and START to rip the DVD...
...I'd already have it halfway ripped. Just because I don't have that STUPID PRIDE that keeps me from switching to what I know WORKS.
On the side I simply look for Linux options and expirement until I find another option that is suitable as a replacement for the WIN32 option.
This is simply a process of progressive migration. It is efficient and UNQUESTIONABLE.
Do you think that I didn't take some of my knowledge and ability to learn Linux from my experience with Windows? You would be wrong to assume that. You still have to give our Windows roots CREDIT. (Even with as much contempt for Microsoft as we may have...)
Also consider that as an administrator/tech...I still need to be able to support several users who are STILL stuck with the WIN32 platform. I need to be able to run the same software that they are using in order to troubleshoot and support it. That is very commonplace in the industry no matter what OS you prefer. Or can you not discern that on your own? It's SIMPLE LOGIC. Aside from that I still need to be able to make sure that the applications that they are using actually DO work in the WIN32 platform. Do you think that I still run WinXP BY CHOICE? You're an IDIOT. I actually have 8 systems here in my office. 3 laptops and 5 desktop systems. 2 of the laptops are running Linux. One of them runs both Linux and WinXP. The desktop systems have a similar ratio.
My server? It's running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise.
"Why?" you may ask? Simple.
The majority of my webserver clients DON'T KNOW how to develop or design for any other web platform aside from Frontpage and it's extensions. The IIS server platform already has all they need incorporated into it. It's simple and it saves me time and money. LOTS OF IT. I run an alternate Linux-based Apache server for those who prefer THAT platform. But most people I host for prefer the simple IIS model. Windows 2003 Server is stable enough that I don't have to concern myself with constant maintenance. Unfortunately Linux would still require more maintenance than I have time for.
Also...unfortunately... You STILL CAN NOT DENY that the WIN32 platform still does certain things BETTER than other operating systems do. It sucks but it's FACT. Just like Linux is more stable than Windows. Anyone who has a clue would know that credit still needs to be given where it is due.
Are you getting this yet? Is any of this soaking in?
You STILL sound like some would-be elitist... Therefore you STILL sound like an IDIOT. I didn't attack you for fun. I OPPOSED your ignorance.
Strongly.
Perhaps too strongly for YOU.
Whatever.
So... I would still like for you and your type...to...
SHUT
UP.
*sighs*
But it'll never happen. You'll continue talking. You'll continue taking a one-sided, narrow-minded stance on your opinion and downgrade the work of someone who JUST MIGHT BE INNOVATING. You'll still respond with IGNORANCE and irrelevant commentary.
I STILL don't know what the hell Xerox has to do with anything or why you mentioned it.
But please... DON'T try to explain it. I really don't want to know. It's IRRELEVANT.
I'm just ASTOUNDED at just exactly HOW IRRELEVANT it really is.
At any rate... I have things needing done and I'm going to do them...
...in whatever platform works BEST for what I'm doing...
...whether you like it OR NOT. |
| | | Re: Spectra?-I Hope Not! May 25 2006 on content KDE Spectra | Dude...
Shut up.
You sound like some wannabe elitist.
SHUT
UP.
First of all...you didn't even introduce yourself as you had asked permission to do. You asked but never did.
Who the HELL do you think you are anyway?
SHUT
UP.
Second of all... You don't just start with an OS like WinXP and kick right into Linux and know what you're doing. Quit talking like you do. We old-schoolers are SICK of listening to you up-and-coming, would-be "H4X0R" newbies nowadays talking like you actually KNOW how things work.
SHUT
UP.
So the interface might actually bear some semblance to Windows. KDE ITSELF BEARS SIGNIFICANT SIMILARITY to Windows. By your own logic (IF you can call it that...) you shouldn't even be using KDE if you have THAT big of a problem with anything that looks remotely or systematically similar to Windows.
I am a Linux user myself. But I still have WinXP on my system because, as an EXPERIENCED user (unlike yourself...) I know better than to put all of my eggs in one basket like that. Sometimes it is just more efficient to switch to the WIN32 platform to get certain things done. If you had any real experience...you would know that this goes without saying.
I'm sorry man...but there was just something about your post...that inspired me to sign up an account JUST to tell you...to...
...SHUT
...UP. |
