Re: Linux = communis
Dec 15 2003  on content Stalin Kommunist

Jeez, A little knowledge makes people sound very stupid.

Communism as defined by Marx - "the positive transcendence of private property, or human self-estrangement, and therefore the real appropriation of the human essence by and for man... the complete return of man to himself as a social being"

As defined by Engels - "The proletariat is that class in society which lives entirely from the sale of its labor and does not draw profit from any kind of capital;"

There is no real world example of communism for you to draw your conclusions by. USSR, China, Cuba nor N Korea are Communist as defined by Marx who is 'creator' of the Communist Ideology. I should also add that Stalin was not a 'Kommunist' either.

Now this is where I draw my similarities between Linux and Communism. Linux (the code not the trademark) is not own by own man or entity and there for transends private property and gives it existance to the community that fosters it. Secondly, most people who profit from the use of Linux do so by providing services or labor not by drawing profit from capital or should I say, selling Linux.

Now do you understand? Communism has nothing to do with getting free water at McDonalds...I'm sorry you thing that.

Forgive me, that Jesus wallpaper IS still here and has not been removed as I previously stated.

Honestly, this is the place for Christian and Communist wallpapers. ALL art is an expression. I have my opinions about Stalin and those the have an affinity (forgive my spelling, I have no first language) with him, but art is art. I personnaly have a negative view towards ALL religions derived from any millenia old text (or sand script). But this is a forum for artful wallpaper. I would hate to have to look to Slackware.kde-look.org for Slackware themed wallpaper. Or to have people to need to goto specificly BSD.kde-look.org for BSD themed wallpaper. So as long as it is artful, it belongs here.

BTW, artful is very subjective and though I find this Stalin wallpaper destaneful (sp again), I find it to be artful. That other christian wallpaper that has since been removed was absolutely not artful but horribly ugly.

Hmm..

Linux and Communism (by ideology) go hand in hand. Linux and Totalitarianism (What Stalin repressents) are like water and oil. I always find it interesting that people will find admiration for such dispictable humans as long as they are 3000 miles and 50 years away from them. Oh well, this kid probably admires Saddam, too.
