about 2/3 did not have tried KDE4 yet.
those people how have tried 45% say its too buggy and 25% are dissapointed.

i have tried KDE4 (debian live CD) and i was dissapionted as well.

maybe the debian liveCD is borked, but different packages crashed reproducingly. the new kicker is far from finished. KDE4 is not yet a whole thing. (KDE3 is. and it is (i dont know how to translate): "mehr als die summe der einzelteile"

Personaly i will wait until KDE4.1 before i switch.

and i guess a lot of distros will aswell.

I think they are making great progress. Especially kwin had big performance gains in rc1. But its true... The "kicker" still needs a lot of work. And I really miss the menu bar on top of the screen (MacOSX style). I think I'm not gonna switch to kde4 until this is working.

But great work anyways... KDE4 (Probably 4.0.2) is going to be the cutest and best desktop ever! Thats for sure!

i've tried kde4 on live cd distro. looks promising, though it's too buggy yet, and too incomplete (it doesn't have, for example, even K3B).
currently using 3.5.7 and waitin' for 4 final...

k3b isn't really part of kde like amarok and other great software, that's why you can't find it on kde4, i think that k3b isn't even ported to qt4 for now

I have tested KDE4 RC and few newer version via Mandriva cooker.

Im just disapointed about it's Gnome feel. There is so many options disabled and hided to get it "easy" for "new users". I like to hope that final version just brings all together and important settings can be found again.

But there is so many bad choises for first time PC users and configuration change is "killed" from those users who already are familiar with KDE.

One bad choise IMHO is kickoff. It just *cks when it is on plasma menu. Everyone who has tested it, knows that you can go back on menu when you click big button on left side. This is very easy when you have KDE3 because menu button is next to screenside. But KDE4 there is 1cm space and you cant just 'wing' mouse to side and press, now you need to aim to click back button and it starts be very hard to be usable. I hope that those few new kmenu replacements are better.

So far i have seen kmenu be much better in use by users who has last time used PC on windows 3.11 time or never and those who has used PC long time.

There just is so much things what is bad by usability view, not mayby by first time users but by users who already know how things works and now KDE4 starts fighting back against current users.

And in one time, new users becomes familiar users who knows better what they want and if they feel that KDE4 is fighting against them, they change, mayby to Gnome what feels littlebit even better now.

I really just hope that KDE4 final rocks... I will brake my hart if it is anything like KDE4 RC version is now.. i even change to gnome what i dont currently like because i cant configure it and why i love KDE. But it's seems i will be permitted to stay on KDE 3.5.x branch.

It looks like Vista did suck by making so much new things to GUI and Apple did same with Leopard (not so much) and sucked one way, and now KDE is doing same and it looks so badly it is suckin too.

Just IMHO and i reserve change for updates ;-)

KDE is made for users....

What can you give to others?

 SVN Version

Well about two days ago I got the latest SVN version, and it's looking really good now. The panel is editable, and correctly displays the plasmoids in them, and the new panel looks really clean, and fits with the over all theme. You can change your wallpaper easily finally.

Still a little buggy, and the plasmoids feel glitchy, and really jerky when I go to move them around, and rotate them. Also the desktop slows down at times when you move, and resize windows. Also window effects like fading, and shrinking are still not very smooth, and even have rendering artifacts at times.

If you asked me about two weeks ago if KDE was going to make it's dead line, I'd say they were nuts. Now it's starting look like it's coming together right in time.
