First reaction:

third re:
I say: drag this window all to the right to see the compleet playlist.... SO the did... Wobbly Wobble (turning the desktop whit the cube) and he was just staring to the screen whit a Question mark on top of his head.... really funny to see!

A week ago my dad want to use my pc to go on the internet... so... no internet explorer... no start...??? how do i start the internet explorer / Firefox? I did Alt+F2 type fir and push the enter button...  kde desktops

i love the reactions :D most of my friends discover the difference after a short while (i don't really let people use my machine). after a short while they notice that the inactive windows are not really opaque and they ask "how did you make windows look like that?".

some smarter guys are asking if i am using some windowblinds or stuff. all in all, when i finally let them know it is not windows they are using, they are somewhat embarrassed and some say "i thought linux is more a console thing used by administrators" etc.

what i like about it all is: 6 out of 10 people who saw my desktop eventually switched to linux for good. they don't need to use kde, they figured out that even old celeron 466 with 128MB ram and integrated graphics runs slackware like a charm...

windows is just a fallback in case wine couldn't eat something ;)

cheers,
tom

The last time a friend of mine saw and used my desktop they went home with a kubuntu cd, and the mission to erase windows from their computer :)

"So that's the way Linux looks like? WOW, that's cool!!!"

Ehe! C'mon, people aren't all so ignorant, usually they can at least distinguish Windows (which is the WORST LOOKING OS ON EARTH) from something else when they see it.

I use Linux and I'm proud of it, and my friends already know that when they can't recognize Windows on my screen it's because I run the penguin!
