they would usually say, "your desktop (obviously referring to a windows) looks different." and then i'd say, "this is not windows. i'm using Linux" "oh, you are?" hahaha. .. love to see that st***d look on their faces. hehehe.. .

for me it's usually "how did you get mac running on that laptop?" but then turns to jealousy over beryl, ending with "hey, can I install that on my windows box?" hehehe

Not many people got to see my desktop but "I want that, too! Right now!" was the response I got when my cousin saw my desktop (and used it for a while) and learnt that using Linux would help him keep viruses away from his box. I installed the OS (oops don't remember which one) which he used for about year and half. Then he stayed off from it as he did not wanted to have different OS for browsing net and playing games.

Another time, some hardware engineer visited my home to fix problems with mouse (which eventually was corrected by updating BIOS). When he saw (and tried to use) my desktop he was very confused and when I told him it was Linux he was very surprised and remarked "that looks very cool. I've used RH xxx before and it has improved manifold...". He asked for CDs (SUSE 9.3) which I denied () and offered to give a copy if he get me blank disks. He promised to come back next day with CDs, but never...
