PHP and FreePascal
I would absolutely love to
write KDE apps in either of
them but there are no bindings.
I already investigated
alternatives:
I would perhaps try Ruby but
I don't like that people
would need to install Ruby +
Korundum to use my apps.
If only they KDE would deliver
Ruby bindings by default with
KDE 3.4! Forcing people to
compile Korundum just to use
my apps is not acceptable...
Python is more common and
bindings exist since KDE 3.3
by default AFAIK. But I just
don't like the language, especially
the indentation. Lots has been
written about that and yes - I
did try it and I absolutely hated
it. So no way I'm using Python.
I'm using PHP a lot for work so
this would be the coolest. Perhaps
with PHP5 a binding is becoming
a reality one day.

You can't be serious about writing QT apps with PHP! PHP is a scripting language for web pages and (possibly) shell scripts, but it's waaay too slow to be used as a REAL programming language ;)) (Don't get me wrong, I use PHP to do lots of stuff done, but I would never ever write QT apps in it ;))

Well, there are people out there using PHP to write apps with GTK+.
Of course, PHP is an interpreted language, but Python and Ruby are as well...

So you prefer messy brackets, unindented, unorganized, hard to read code? Hmmm..... you must not collaborate much with others. They'd kill you for not indenting your code, even in languages that dont require it. All good programmers indent their code to make it easier to understand and debug. Python is a great language because it forces it on programmers, which is especially important for beginners who may be lazy and not indent in other languages.

Get Kommander, which happens to be in kdewebdev with Quanta, and you can build the GUI and add in the code for operations in any scripting language. And for the naysayers that say that scripting a GUI is slow, you're right! That's why Kommander doesn't use scripting for the GUI but draws it and interacts with DCOP. The scripting is only of where you need to script something and you can use multiple languages.

Java, Pascal, JavaScript and PHP.
It would be nice if there is something with which you can use the Qt Libarys with Java.
I know there are is the Project QtJava and Koala, but they are using the real comlicate Qtinterfaces like in C. It would be easier if you could use Qt as a Swing LookAndFeel.

(Sorry for my bad English today, now it's 11 o'clock pm and i haven't slept for a long time ...)

Well, the Swin Look and Feels always have their restrictions. ever tried the GTK Look and Feel? No Font anti aliasing and just support for BlueCurve and the default style.

I prefer SWT (it's way faster than Swing) and the SWT GTK Style is really great. However a SWT QT style is missing.

have you tried out the new jdk 1.5 ? now the gtk theme got cool font AA, but style do not seem to work very well...

SWT: i've never tried it out. but i think with running eclipse 3.0 it shouldn't be a problem.

I use PHP, C++, Perl, Bash and Javascript. I'm also developing Kommander because it can enable GUI programming with any language. Look at the choices for Python, Basic, Pascal and others. Why should I have to learn or refresh myself on another language and swear a vow of fidelity with an IDE just to get a feature it has? That's old school, just like painting a GUI with the scripting language is old school. Now here's a good question... Why can't I find people who want support for a language to help with Kommander to enhance language support? It must be one of the highest rated apps here people don't know exists.

I once tried a little bit to do with kommander but somehow I was too stupid to figure out how it works in the few minutes I tried it.

Is there a small quick-and-dirty howto on how to create an example application with kommander?
