Why aint gKrellm an option? Or am i the onlyone who uses gkrellm cause superkaramba is too buggy?

i'm running gkrellm on my desktop. there might be people out there, who will say this ruins the whole look but it is not possible to find a superkaramba applet, which covers all the information aspects i need.
I would make my own if i knew how to write a python script.

Hopefully with the migthy Plasma project KDE will include something else then superkaramba, which is more processor time friendly and uses the new Xorg extensions, which superkaramba doesn't mind by now.

I really don't like it, when my desktop is filled with stuff. I've installed Superkaramba, but the recent plugins are not convincing enough to make me place them on my beautiful desktop.
And, for sure, it is easier to find what you are searching for, when there's not that much on your desktop.

There's nothing more that I hate than a desktop that looks like the ones from the other side of the force: half full of icons which are mostly useless.

I tried SuperKaramba, gDesklets, aDesklets but after a few days of fun I uninstalled them. No use for me. I don't spent my time monitoring the speed of each bit moving in my system.

I only have 2 icons for the amovible medias and 2 shortcuts toward the folders where I store the archives once used. For some unknown reason, I kept the trashcan that I never use. And that's absolutely all I have on my desktop.

The apps I use the most are on an autohide taskbar on the top of the screen. Another autohide taskbar on a side contains my shortcuts for Konqueror. Kicker is at the bottom of the screen, on autohide too.

Everything is at the tip of the mouse cursor but my desktop is a place to put windows, not icons. And believe me, I can easily fill my four virtual desktops despite Konqueror's tabbed brwosing and without noticing... until I look for another free desktop.

... no stinking icons *grin* Ok so I'm no Cheech or Chong. But yes. I've two karamba apps. dbKalendar and a clock to match it. No Icons for the most part unless a removable drive is plugged in. (They serve as a visual reminder to unplug them before suspending.) I find it useless myself to spend half my cpu cycles monitoring my cpu cycle usage.

I mean let's be honest.... how often do you actually see! your desktop? Mine is usually covered by windows.... and I don't mean the kind from the northwest US.

My Windows desktop - full with icons. It's really messy, and looks awful.

My KDE desktop - emtpy, exept a terminal. It's really useless, but I think it looks nice. I have used Superkaramba, but never loved it too much. What I do like is Katapult, which I use to launch apps or sometimes open folders.
Apps which I usually use, such as the terminal, has its own shortcut key on my
keyboard. That why I don't think I need icons on my desktop.

I still use gkrellm. I like it a lot better than every else. It doesn't slow the computer down and its slim. Insted of talking about my desktop I just took a snapshot, a lot easier lol.
