What the heck is everyone so hyped up about the Maya PLE?!!
Softimage has a way better product (XSI) which has a far better FREE educational version available for Linux! Get it here:

I tried to download it. I've registered and have chosen that I'm interested in the Linux version. Nevertheless the only download link I've received after registering is for Windoze.

Where can I download the Linux version?

Hi Yaba,

Trying to fake someone? :) There's no download link on the e-mail sent to you. Just a confirmation e-mail.

The link is the one the guy provided up there. Once you register, Just follow the link he gave up there. There's a point in which you'll be asked about the platform, choose Linux.... done.

Of course not (I'm not affiliated with Alias in any way).

My problem was just that I did not read the email carefully anough. I justed clicked on the link to activate my account and on that page I proceeded to the download page, which was the Windows download.

Uhmmmmmm bad news though. The thing won't run on mandrake. At least not here. I tried several things, but no way. It seems to be designed for RH, and even RH8 needs patching.

Well.... I love Blender :)

http://www.softimage.com/products/exp/v3/download/step1.htm

And in menu: "Please select your platform:" you should choose "Linux" ;-)

that's all.
