 Not so nice

Hehe, I don't think anyone is going to make that ugly mockup. That would take a week and you would get a book you don't want.

Kewl, I get to waste away 3 days or more of my life for a book I don't want! kewlkewlkewl!!!!

Well, I will say that while the theme does need some tweaks, I do like the idea. The shapes are kind of fun...

Wow, those books certainly aren't for people who actually USE linux... Most likely anyone who knows how to create themes like that would already know they're away around linux and wouldn't want a book on C# (last I checked that was a Microshafted language)

I get into linux to get away from those bloody spies at that joke-of-a-legal-company. They should move hell's headquarters from Hoboken, NJ to Redmond, WA. Oh wait! They already did when they put Microsoft there! Never mind...

Don't talk trash about C# yet. Have you been following Mono at all? I hate to get off topic but Mono is really going to make Linux mainstream, and C# is an integral part of .NET.

As for this window decor, I wouldn't use it, although I must say it isn't too ugly. I like the triangular buttons, but I think it's kinda gimmicky.

I just don't think we need ANOTHER C language. Here's a sort-of list:
- C
- Objective C
- C++
- C-- (I think this exists, I've heard about it. Correct me if Im wrong)
- C#

These are all really different flavors of the same thing. The only ones could possibly be considered different are C++ and C--

C# is only in syntax a bit like C/C++...

But the environment is totally different!

C# doesnt use headers
C# is compiled to IL, not native machine code, that makes is platform indipendent
C# doesnt use the c/c++ libraries, its totally based on the .net framework
C# is 100% OO
...

C# just isnt another C language!

no C# is java made wrong... please we DO NOT need another ms only languge (yes I am aware of the projects trying to port mono, but that aint official releases, and such will always lack behind). And goto staments in a OO language? gimme a break...

WTF are you talking about, someone already won the contest only a few hours after it was posted. And its a GNOME metacity theme now, unlike you he didnt whine, he effectively finished the theme instead.

Yes, and it is still ugly. :) Although let me take this opportunity to once again express my plea for someone, somewhere, to write a _thorough_ tutorial on coding KDE window borders and styles. Last I checked, there was only one (http://rikkus.info/kwin_style_tutorial.html), and it is by no means complete.

 Yes,indeed

KDE badly needs good developer documentation, currently there is almost no good documentation for KDE on anything, not even crating themes!

I for one value the documentation as much as the tools, because without being able to use the tools it might as well not be there for all I care. This is where Linux applications are usually lacking in general. Documentation tends to be outdated, or incomplete, because developers don't feel it is "cool enough" for their time. Good documentation would bring so much more life into KDE and it would be one way to distinguish itself from the rest. Creating documentation also is a good way to find bugs, at least in my experience.

Your response clearly shows your ignorance. If you ever expect linux to be mainstream on the desktop, such unconstructive or helpful answers will get you nowhere.

I can not write some, I do not have the permission or skills to do so, I am not a programmer and I do not know Qt or KDE's api. I just browsed through it trying to understand and noticed that many of the dates were pre 2000 even and that many things did not seem throughly or clearly explained.

I was in a bad mood when I wrote that, so sorry. However, the Linux community is driven by motivation. I really am just glad that things get done. Unlike in the commercial world you shouldn't expect anything unless you want to do it yourself. I am not igornant, I just understand the developers.

then we have to find a company willing to finance some people to write KDE documentation for user and for developer.
