 We've got the code..

What sort of comment is that to make? We've got the code so stuff him? The guy was brilliant, Do you have any idea how rare the combination of ace programmer and ace graphic artist is? And he gave his skill freely to the kde community. So what if he may have been temperamental or turned up with major code change 2 days before feature freeze. *BEFORE* is the operative word there and besides kde manages to accomodate such things when they want to for other people. If KDE wants to act so professional then they should grow up and not be so rigid. Is this why we had that totally farcical bug-ridden 2.2 release without searchable help etc. It was totally unfinished and should never have been released but was because the calendar said release day? That farce and the debacle with RH and Suse 2.2 rpms did the sort of damage to kde that only the eye-kandy work of people like Mosfet can make new users and the press overlook (rightly or wrongly). akar.

I don't recall *any* release of KDE being 'farcical'.

Mosfet / Daniel made no effort to get along with the rest of the developers. He frequently started pointless flamewars, and didn't understand when people didn't immediately drop whatever they were doing so that they could integrate his code into everything. In short, he's a brilliant one-man-band.

But that's past now. I hope he has success at Windows programming.

I'll just say this: before I found Liquid, KDE's performance and appearance bothered me. Now, KDE is fast and very attractive. In addition, before Liquid, X regularly used 25% of my 256 mb of RAM. Now it only uses 0.6%. Amazing!
