 KDE Servers

Where are the official KDE servers hosted? Maybe the hoster of the KDE servers would also host kde-look.org.

And what about moving KDE-Look.org to kde.org, e.g. look.kde.org?

Hi Yaba,

good idea but I have contacted the KDE League. It seems that this is not possible at the moment. :-(

 Bandwidth

Perhaps you should cut down on the outgoing bandwidth, at least in the short term, by not allowing new file uploads to the server, but instead forcing people to host files on their personal webspace. Or, you could lower the limit from 750KB to something like 200KB. This would at least trim things down until you can (hopefully) find another provider.

Failing that, ask from donations from the community. From what you've said, KDE-Look gets a huge amount of visitors, and I'm sure some of us would be willing to donate money to keep the site alive.

Good luck :-S

I think kde.org must help you! kdelook.org is very important place for kde users AND developers.

Good Luck!

 mirroring an option?

I hope with me a lot of companies or freelance developers administrators buy bannerspace. Unfortunetly 450GB is to much for my company to cope with. It will cost us around 2000 EURO/month to make that happen and that's a hell of a sponceringprice.

You could try the UK Free Software Network (http://www.ukfsn.org). It's run by one guy who is a BIG FS advocate, and who is giving all of the profits he gets from running the service to FS, rather than into his pockets.

He gave my site (http://www.newtolinux.org.uk), which offers articles and tutorials introducing newbies to FS and GNU/Linux, free hosting :)

Though our bandwidth usage is likely to be considerably smaller than yours, you might try at least e-mailing him to see what he says... he might at least give you a discount :)
