I should note that I sent that email before we got the latest Crystal post which appears to have included alot of the crystal icons on ppl on kde-look.org have done. WONDERFUL! This is truly wonderful, now we just have to work on getting all the sizes for the various icons done. I promise to try and do some of this myself as well.

You're asking permission to start an open source project? Nobody has control over the distributions of the Crystal[eque] icons because they are all (presumably) GPL.

You are right, I don't HAVE to ask permission, but I believe it cordial and proper to mention that you are doing it. I think it's fair to assume that we know what the GPL is :)

didn't everaldo agree on submissions on the official icon set ? Isn't Crystal GPL ? So why start a new project, are there icons being rejected then ?

Please tell me more what you want with this community icon set. Is it going to include the "Official icons" from everaldo as well ?

Personally I think the community should submit their Crystal-like icons to everaldo for inclusion in the 'official icon set'.

I feel that more work is needed where dave is working on

.. You know the guy who made the cool trashcan and making some device icons. This guy has a new vision how icons could look like.

Anyway I'm just curious why you feel the urge to start a commmunity icon set...

it was high time that someone put together all the crystal icons that have been posted here recently.

And it is good that it was publicly announced here on k-l.org, this place is much more than a download site.
It would be nice if k--l.org supported other such collaborative projects in the future.
