Banality: the question is more-more complex and highly subjective. I had the feeling that you made this group to troll those "14year old idiots", while you think that this become a hq for these trolls what you hate. Wired. I didn't realise your army of trolls here. Ofc, there is some, but every site have trolls.

A topic about competitors in a discussing group is ok. But there is no place for trolls and haters on this site. It's really silly if you want explain your childish behaviour with others childish behaviour.
If i'm wrong and you just want hear others opinions about their favourite desktop to encounter with yours in mature way, then I'm sorry.

about MS: no doubt, they have one of the best marketing all over world (I have no problem with this). Even with best marketing and quasi-monopoly over desktop market, they still too agressive and unfair. (EU have problems with this too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union_Microsoft_competition_case). No, I don't care about their profit. I have problems with the strategy they do to get it. The (market-)competition they destroy in the process really not helps for technical evolution. In my ideology, the evolution have high value.

about Windows: I don't like buy software which I can't look into. If I have problem, I can't fix. Why? Because I don't know how the whole thing works. I can't and even not allowed to modify anything, while all responsibility - over the data handled by the OS - is MINE.
Would you buy a car which have locked hood? No way, it's too risky you could say. Now imagine a car mechanic or racer would answer to this.
Windows is same case. Todays, your life can rely on softwares, like a car seller businessman who rely on cars that he sells.

This is my two cents. Not need to agree and I respect other opinions ofc.
