Well, you can count me out.

The poor thing can't even play a CD without skipping. Luckily there's KsCD.

It often has trouble even connecting to streams (no problem with Xmms).

But, hey, it sure has a lot of nice and useless animations.

Rather than "rediscovering my music", I'm rediscovering the other players after trying Amarok.

Of course it works great. It's sad that many morons blame Amarok just because of their stupidity - some don't have codecs installed etc. Streaming is wonderful in Amarok 2, I can't say the same about Rhythmbox. When Amarok 2 will support queuing it will be the best player. Thanks devs!

The look and feel of Amarok are great, but as far as functionality goes, its a total bust in my book. After 2 weeks of trying to figure out why every one of my CDs skipped and getting failed connections to streaming music over 75% of the time, I decided to give it the old un-install. The fact that it would regularly and spontaneously crash while minimized and not active didn't help either. Not thrilled with how 2.0 is looking at this point either unfortunately, but I'm hoping by some stroke of luck it'll end up looking good and actually work once in a while for me. Let me like you Amarok, I really do want to!

Given that KDE 4.x is, itself, slightly unstable, one can't assume that amarok is the actual problem. Its also possible that amarok is a victim of some, as of yet, undiscovered bug in kde 4.x, or a bug in the given distro itself as well.

Also given the amarok devel's track record of producing a superior app, odds are its just a transition problem, the kind others are also experiencing.

Just thought I'd mention the obvious.

I don't have the time to help the community by reporting bugs. Every app I've used in KDE 4.2 crashes, some sooner rather than later. I'm using openSuSE 11.1. I went back to openSuSE 11 and KDE 3.5 and everything worked fine again.

I really, really wanted everything in KDE 4.2 to work properly. I went back to KDE 4.2 and awaited updates, hoping some of my most important applications would be straightened out. I use Amarok more than anything else, because no matter what I'm doing I have music on. Few updates have come. Amarok still glitches out like crazy.

If Amarok just worked right I could deal with all the other bullshit. I'm still hopeful... I can't help but think some of this is also openSuSE problems. [sigh]

Amarok is stupid, it's ugly, it doesn't even know what to do! Don't try it!

Sorry, but since today this ugly piece of software tells me to install some restricted codecs (k3b and mpeg). No matter what i do - it continues telling me to update my system (Jaunty 9.04).

It's the worst player i have ever used and now i will jump to another, less ugly and buggy player.

Amarok wants "installing packages for extra multimedia functionality" ?

Amarok needs a kick in the arse now to jump of off my harddisk asap ...

Uh... k3b is no restricted codec. It's KDEs disc burning program.

I don't really know why your distro puts that into restricted...

I'm sorry you don't like Amarok. For me it's the best thing which every happened to my music - and I tried many other programs, including the mpd daemon with mpc or pympd as frontend.

Nothing ever managed to beat Amarok - neither in looks nor in functionality.

Sorry mate - you are biased towards Amarok. A2 sucks - it has messed up my tags, can't find album art, can't find the right lyrics (because it messed up my tags), etc.

Before you go off on a tangent, I have a music collection of almost 16GBs - and now I have to manually retag all of those, just to get A2 to work properly?

Methinks KDE is heading over to WinShit's way of doing - releasing half-arsed, bug-filled software just in order to be seen to release software.

That was my first and last impression of Amarok 4, as I gradualy reverted to Konsole, then Amarok 3. I don't care about hidden features, I want the overview and detail of my collection. Amarok 3 is almost perfect.

For the sake of Amarok's future, please bring back the interface of Amarok 3!
