 Sorting Songs

by jaegerschnitzel on: Feb 16 2007

Score 50%

I really like amarok, but there are two minor things, that I'd like to see (or I just haven't found them yet) concerning sorting the songs:

I have several songs, whose album is unknown. However, from the same artist I have songs that belong to albums. I am sorting by "genre, artist, album". The files with unknown album are inside the (virtual) album "Unknown". But I would like to see them directly under the artist's name (just to save one click every time I want to play a song from an unknown album). This means: Sorting by "genre, artist" when album unknown, and by "genre, artist, album" if it is known.

Second thing: I have some soundtrack albums, where the titles are played by different artists. This means, sorting by "genre, artist, album" is useless, it should be "genre, album" (if I want to be able to play a whole soundtrack). Is it possible to set sorting somehow individually for each genre?

Thanks for your great app!

Yup, the "hide menu" option was removed due to a large number of users inadvertently hiding it and not knowing how to restore it. We have had several of these users a day on the IRC channel.

Is there the possibility of enabling the "hide menu" option in a config file?

It's not first time when dumb majority is the cause of feature removal. Sad but true. However, this option should be hidden somewhere. That would be nice.

I hate this menu bar... :/

How about the developers write a decent help? Then the "dumb majority" will have no excuse.

I for one is getting sick of this half-done KDE releases - I am still trying to find helps and manuals for programs that I have been using since 4 releases ago...

 wikipedia search

Hi,
first of all, thanks for this wonderful player!
I wanted to bring your attention on this (small) issue.

Scenario:
I' running Amarok 1.4.5 on kde 3.5.6, latest updated a couple of minutes ago on a Kubuntu 7.04. I listen to a shoutcast stream.

Issue:
When I use the context sidebar and click on "Artist", the search on wikipedia is not for the artist, but for artist + title.

It always happens, no matter which stream I listen to. I don't know whether this is an amarok issue or depends from the way info are sent in the audio streaming.
If I listen to a CD or mp3, everything works correctly.

Anyway, this won't keep me from using amarok!

Greetings from Italy,
Stefano
PS: I apologise if this has already been reported, unfortunately I have no time to read all the comments/discussion
