 I don't like the new

Damn, I'm disappointed with the current (1.4.1) layout!!! How do I change it back to pre-1.4.1 version? I really hate the way my amaroK looks.

Hmm... looks like I installed some strange version from the "guru.suse" repository. The installation from another repository solved the "problem". Sorry for my bitching!

unfortunatelly, guru reposotory has an earlier (beta) version, in which layout wasn't modified. I haven't seen a suse package with the latast 1.4.1 final version (even rpm.pbone.net has that old beta package) but you can alway use app sources or svn to get the lates version.

 1.4.1 beta is better

CHANGES
- Disabled INotify support due to stability problems
- Removed Moodbar
- Delay the layout change until 2.0. The 1.4.1 release again features the classic

Beta 1 is better then final version! It runs perfect in my suse 10.1 ;)

 Don't like the "new"

I'm glad they stuck with the "classic" layout for this recent release. The "new" layout is not as near as desirable as the old layout.

If the "new" release becomes hard coded and there is no option to revert layout to the "classic" layout, I will (sadly) have to switch to a different player (juK comes to mind). I sure hope I don't have to...

amaroK is a great, great player (superb, fabulous), and I like it because of its flexible layout, not because of all the "features" for last.fm and the like. If you want to add additional options, that is fine, but its like they say, "don't fix it if it isn't broke" and this applies here!

I dont like the icon set tath I have found on last release, with respect for who works on it I say "hey monochromatic blue icons?what is this?? I really think tath you can make a better work, amarok it deserves it.
Finally a question @moodbar, it will return @ home?:)
I have a AMD1800+ and I spent time to create the modbar specrum on every single song, I think moodbar was a great thing. :)

 Classic Layout?

by lucher on: Jul 31 2006

Please, remove this cluttered sidebar. Why? take this:

  • If switched to 'Music' the sidebar takes always the half of my screen width, buttons are always wider than the sidebar width. What a mess!
  • How many lines do they draw there? First there is the splitter, then a line from the tab widget, then a sunken line indicating that a nother widget is encapsulated and depending on the skin another line is appearing. Makes 4 lines next to each other. Please, remove ALL of them! Just take the plain window background and place the context information flat on the pane,.
  • Certain information like the current song title, its length, its album icon and probably a short history should be visible always without the need to make thee cluttered sidebar visible - take juK for a very good UI study,
  • There are just too many tabs in the sidebar. How may someone add tabs to a sidebar? Two contradictious concepts! Either tabs OR a sidebar! And even a QToolBox encapsulated in the "context" bar would be better. The tabs take just too much space and let the bar look ugly (and need two clicks for access!)

  • Just my 2 cents
