 Still empty id3v2

Amarok still writes empty ID3v2 tags so it turns all tag editing features useless for me.

well, Amarok uses taglib to read and write tags, i guess the version you have is broken... It works fine here, and for everybody else, so it can't be Amarok's fault.

 FLAC?

by Dapper on: Jun 19 2006

Score 50%

hi, I just installed Amarok 1.4.1, but I have the same problem I had in SVN... It can't play Flac Audio files, I have been told that it is a problem with xine, yet 1.4 can play FLACs and it uses the same engine, please fix, FLACS are one of the highest qualities of Audio, it would be a shame if Amarok coulden't play them, thanks, your doing a great job.

That's actually a bug in xine-lib, fixed in 1.1.2 (to be released soon). Gentoo users can already enjoy a patched xine-lib, so they're not affected by this issue.

 Context browser

Is there any way to switch the Context browser to the old style? I personally do not like the new one. I used to see my playlist and the context view... now I see a half of both. Both these contain vertical lists of songs and therefore are imho not suitable for this new layout.

You can't switch back to the old layout. We're experimenting with this new layout, and collecting user feedback and ideas. In the end we will decide if we're going to keep it or not.

Agreed. How about placing the collection browser on top instead (using three or a configurable amount of ListViews) like it is possible in iTunes:

 Context browser (2)

mmm...if I must tell the true, I don't like that much the new layout, for the same reasons that Radek sayed.
Also I find the new icon theme a little too black and white (well...blu and white). This make me prefer the crystal (kde) theme.
The one I like most is anyway your costum theme in 1.4.0...more crystal like (so more consistent with kde default icon theme) in my opinion. Err Am I the only one? :|
Anyway, even if I reverted to 1.4.0, amarok is still by far the best audio player I tried and I will alway say thank you for this. :)

 iPOD

i propose removing the iPod from the splash screen, because the iPod is a symbol for Digital Restrictions Management.
the iTunes and iPod hype is harmful for all users of free software, we should not support it.

 layout

Just vanted to say that as far I am concern, I don't like the new layout. Same reason as other person mentioned. I think it is okay to keep this layout if you provide an option to revert for the old one. New icons themes is good. I hate default kristal :)

Any way, thank you for your work!
