Description:

Apollon - the greek god of music, mp3s, and videos! Apollon is a KDE-based client for the p2p-protocol giFT (OpenFT, FastTrack(Kazaa!), Gnutella, OpenNap) It is very userfriendly, intuitively, offers an inline Mediaplayer for previews of downloaded files, etc etc

On SUSE 9

compiled giFT from CVS + 3 Plugins (had install the missing devel packages for ImageMagic, libxml, libogg, libvorbis)
compiled apollon.

used checkinstall scipt to create rpms (http://asic-linux.com.mx/~izto/checkinstall/)

Made the gift-setup script and changed the 0 to 1 in the .giFT/ config file

Downloaded test MP3s from all networks.

superb!

you need to install giFT and some plugins too, before you compile Apollon.

you can get giFT either as a tar-ball at http://www.sf.net/projects/gift or
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=34618

or via cvs. giFT-developer recommend strongly to download the tarball!

Is it just me, or Apollon won't search ...
I installed openGiFT, ok, in 0.9.1 the search went ok, but in 0.9.2 it doesn't search right, actually, it doesn't search at all...
what am I doing wrong? What do I need to install?

Hi!

I really like this program, what i only miss is to be able to use ot for direct connect networks too. Any plan for it? Or should i stay at the (ugly:) dcgui-qt ? :)

I've been trying solutions for a little while now so now I'll come to the community. I'm having problems connecting to all the networks and was hoping somebody might have a suggestion for me. The error I get is along the lines of "the gift daemon is not up and (I) cannot bring it up." I've tried all the things it suggested and started it as root.

you need to create a symlink (ln -s) from the location of the plugins, to the location that apollon (by default) believes they are.
im not at my machine right now, or i would just tell you the locations and give you the command....however, i had the same problem and this was the resolution.
