Will do Nick, this was a quick release and I was tired, and I changed a few strings. But I will deal with that for next beta or the one after. Many thanks to all the translators!

The command line give does not work:

su -c "make install"
configure: error: invalid feature name: debug=full

As soon as I installed Suse 9.1 I wanted to have filelight integrated into the konqueror - and now it is! cool! thanx!

If you need a german translation, drop me a note.

sounds like you did -debug=full rather than --disable-debug.

In fact I think my recommended cbuild line is a bit wrong but still try that. Should fix it hopefully!

Thanks for the offer of the translation, but I have a Deutsch translator already :-)

Right everytime I select the "scan across filesystem bondaries" option Filelight crashes immediately.
This is the backtrace:

 memory usage

by fqnbstrd on: Jul 8 2004

Score 50%

great program, but it seems like the memory usage is proportional to the amount of files scanned, even though in the end the same amount of information is displayed. This makes it impossible for me to use it on a whole linux partition, when I want to work on the same machine.

The whole filesystem is kept stored in memory if you scanned it so that exploring other areas is quick. It is the kind of application that is open for long periods of time. Most people expect this kind of behaviour.

Would you prefer that after you have scanned / you click on /usr it has to rescan the whole of /usr so that it can show the map for that directory? I doubt this.

If you have a better solution, patches are welcome.

Memory usage has been cut by about a third in beta3 which will be released soon. Thanks for the feedback,

Max

How about implementing an option to drop a depth level of information as soon as the required memory gets bigger than a specified value?

Have you approached the KDE developers about getting this included in 3.3? It is, IMHO, much easier to use than the FSViewPart.

No, and I should. It won't get into 3.3 now though it is too late. I think it should be in KDE though. The issues are:

1. Politics. There is already FSView, duplication is not everyone's cup of tea.
2. Nerves. I do not crave the idea of making the proposal!

But once 1.0 is done I'll take the necessary actions.
