 digikam.xml

by FabianJ on: Aug 18 2004

I really like this program, because it supports so many file-formats and because there aren't that many Image Viewers that display animated gif correctly.

However, there is one thing that i find somehow annoying. It leaves an xml-file in every directory it enters. I've got lots of different directorys for my image-collection an it costs quite some time to delete all the digikam.xml by hand. I wonder if there's a way stop ShowImg from doing so.

The digikam.xml files are due to the digikam plugin support. The next release of showimg... comming soon... will use the new plugin achitecture, called 'kipi' and the digikam.xml will not be created anymore...

 more sorting options

 by niknik79 on: Aug 31 2004

Score 50%

This is a great program, thanks! I especially like the option to display images form an entire subtree of directories.

However, I really miss more advanced sorting options for the pictures. I would really like a View/Sort menu as GImageView has it.

In particular I miss an option, that sorts by directory first and by name second.

If I display a subtree of directories, everything gets out of order, because my digicam creates a new folder for each day and names all the first images pic0001.jpg. So I get to see all the first pictures of every day, then all the second ones and so on, instead of chronological order.

Otherwise, I'd say ShowImg is the best viewer out there. Thanks!

They are not 'immediatly' supported I mean you can't display them immediatly, BUT they can be converted into tiff/png/... using the kipi-plugin called 'KIPI Raw image batch converter'. See screenshot here:

Thanks a lot for your e-mail Richard!! I know I'm late. :)

I've installed guru's package of showimg 0.9.4 but it seems it hasn't been compiled with kipi support...is there a way to enable it or I need to compile it myself? I can use them in digikam...

And I've missed probably something or if it is not possible to browse through samba folders?

Can you send me the url where you've download it? In 'Configure showimg', have you the entry 'Plugins' as shown here? http://www.jalix.org/projects/showimg/screenshots.phtml?view=06
