 I agree!

I don't like this new kaffeine at all.
The previous interface was much better, more user friendly and intuitive. I also loved the toolbar with the controls at the bottom.
There is nothing good about the new interface and what is worse is that it crashes continuously. Furthermore, it creates a wizard.bla file and xine-config file in my home, instead of reading the xine config file in the .xine dir.

Why wasting time in a new interface (which looks worse and less usable) instead of improving the stability?
Sometimes some applications and interfaces are just GOOD and no change is needed.

I just reinstalled ver. 0.4.3b

 new interface

I was so happy when I discovered kaffeine sometime last year. Finally I had a media player for linux that I liked. It worked with KDE, played movies as well as xine, and had a simple as well as effective interface. I hate being this critical, but this new interface is terrible. Its confusing and messy. I guess I'll be sticking with kaffeine-4.3b untill something else comes along. Thanks for your work though, I hope in future versions the interface can be customizable.

I also hope that in the new release the UI will be customiseable so that I can configure it like it was before this change. I also don't criticise so often, I actually think kaffeine is great, but I'm not happy with the new UI. I hope it will be possible to reverse this change!

 Toolbars

Finally got this new version tested.

For those who liked the old interface better, like me, it's possible to configure the toolbars for your liking. However looks like the toolbar positions are not saved when exiting the program. I turned off all but control toolbar and moved control toolbar to the bottom, when I exit program and reopen, all toolbars are turned on again and moved back to the top :(

Additional info: Toolbar configuration is saved to ~/.kde/share/config/kaffeinerc as it should, for example:

[Main Window Toolbar controlsToolBar]
IconText=IconOnly
Index=0
Offset=55
Position=Bottom

[Main Window Toolbar mainToolBar]
Hidden=true
Index=1

(among others)

It looks like that config it just not read or respected next time when loading application.

i experienced the same problem. configuring the toolbars in kaffeine does not work and hacking the config file doesn't work either. but i don't like most of these toolbars!
would be nice to be able to configure them just like i want to. :)

ps: i also don't like the new logo movie. it is too inanimate ;)

 Equalizer

I've often preferred kaffeine from other video and also audio players for the equalizer: neither xine and mplayer have it (well, gmplayer has it, but it's really ugly), and neither amarok.
Why don't you put it back again?

One suggestion would be nice if i could load subtitle files (srt) through kaffeine :).

But besides that i do like your new interface, I now use kaffeine for DVD/svcd/vcd/mp3 basically all my media playing which is what i've been wannting for along time now.

Keep up the great work...
