 Wishlist

I love kaffeine, but would like some extra options to be added. The player shows the time completed of the current song, and I would like it show the time remaining. I can change this, but next time it starts, I have to change it again. I would like to be able to change the setting. Secondly, if I am not viewing a video or a visualisation, there should be some way of hiding the video area. The blank box looks odd. Other than that, great work!

 Subtitles

I've tried to play various subtitle files along the movies, but the subtitles never show. Does anyone have a clue what might cause this problem?

Update your xine-lib version. Kaffeine needs at least 1.0rc4 to compile.

Instead of a tabs, why don't you use the side bar like Konqueror and Amarok do?

Thanks for you work, this is a great application!

 Awful!

I really liked kaffeine but this new look it's awful! I hate kopete because it has this "full of toolbars" look and now kaffeine has the same. You don't have to follow the kde guidelines always. The previous look was just what you expected from a video player while this one is like a text editor!

I too really liked the previous UI. I haven't tried the new one yet though, maybe it is configurable enough to get it look the way I like it.. will test later today. I have to agree, not all programs need to look like each other :)

 Why changes ?

Ok, here it goes - first, the look'n'feel of the app is totally different, and although I am not a conformist who dislikes anything new, this is not at all good, I loved the toolbar on the bottom, it made Kaffeine, well, Kaffeine, now it makes it bad copy of KPlayer. Second, the fullscreen menu is disastrous - where is that old easy-to-use yet exhaustive (dvd) navigation right-click menu? How can I get to the title menu of the DVD? Also, simple left-click menu is also missing, and that's bad, bad, bad! I spent couple of hours dloading&upgrading xine-lib and compiling kaffeine, and what do I get ;) ? Also, some icons are not installed, or more likely are installed somewhere my system cannot find them, including the icon of the very app...On the bright side, the GO! menu is great, tabs are good idea, and I like the new welcome screen, as well as the nice wizard. Conclusion - I would put back the old gui, with the addition of tabs on the top the main screen, and definitely make a comeback for the old fullscreen menu/s...
