To be honest, I don't like the ubuntu-color very much, changing the default theme to sth I preferred is the first thing I would do when I installed my ubuntu box each time.
However, to change the colors of this theme is quite easy via the gnome-appearance-properties.

Hi,

Ok i understand this. but can i give you a colour-scheme which is ubuntu-ish? i cant change the code of the theme because i am no programmer. but i think you could easily make a copy you your beautiful theme with this colours i am using at the moment:
for the windows: #E6DFCF
for elected things: #996B5C

only the menu would look a bit boring because it is standart white, but the rest would look very nice for people who like the ubuntu-colours. a lot of people would appreciate it. thanks for your beautiful theme!!!

 only menus

by bababoss on: Jan 10 2009

Score 50%

now it is perfect! i still prefer this colour for the windows of the human-version: #E6DFCF
it makes it more special. not too bright.

the only thing now that would need some change are the menus. they look too boring. dont know what new is possible with the murrine-svn, but you are the artist. looking forward to next release;)

I just derived the colors from the human theme of ubuntu.
As for the menus, some people say it looks good and consistent with progress bars and scrollbars but YMMV. I can make it not so glossy, like other murrine themes do, no idea which styles you may prefer.

well, i think the menus definetly shouldnt be just white. especially when you use the colour for the windows i showed you (#E6DFCF). at the moment the human-theme is toooo bright.
the menus should be darker than the windows or have the same colour. i dont know if it is possible with murrine-svn, but gradients in the menu would fit better to the very modern rest of the theme.

Do you mean that menus background should be darker or akin to the normal bg?

the menus are white at the moment. maybe i am using the wrong term... i mean when u click on "applications" or "places" on the panel for example, it opens a white menu. the highlights in there are perfect but the colour of the menu itself needs to be changed. it is just white. i hope you can understand my bad english.

I think I understand what your point is, the background of menus are white, it does not fit well with human colors.
Could do this for me to testify whether it's the very thing you need, it's simple:

Edit gtkrc, go to the line 347 and replace @base_color with shade (1.05, @bg_color), and save it.

If it looks fine, new revision will be uploaded.

ok, i did it! and YES it looks better than white now. BUT one question: you know murrine-svn and is it possible to make the menu glossy too? or some other effects? gradients?

No, I don't think so. As far as I know, not any of the engines except pixmap can do it. If you like a gradient/glossy menu (not menu item), try to replace murrine with pixmap, and create a nice bg picture as well. There're plenty of themes using pixmap engine. Not that difficult, but I won't add a second engine here.

 A Black Version...

by ArCeSiNo on: Jan 10 2009

Hi.

First than all, what incredible work!!! this theme is amazing!!!

I wrote this post because I really love this theme and yesterday I saw the new brown version, so I'm wondering if there's any posibility to create a black version. I'm not mean a totally black theme (dark themes are problematic). I'd like a black version just as the brown version but in black, something like the Slickness's color scheme (Slickness is another excellent gtk2 theme).

I hope this isn't to ask so much... Thanks!!!

Thanks for the comment.

I'm making it a little bit lighter right now ...

And I totally agree with the "problematic" thing, tried before, don't know how far MurrinaCrystalMidnight would go ;)

I can try but I don't promise, keep tuned.

This is an absolutely amazing theme. This coming from a guy who uses only his personal dark theme. Love it a lot. I can see myself using this theme when i'm at uni. 2 Thumbs up from me!

Thanks for your nice word.
The principal is to provide a bright, yet usable and good looking theme.
However as someone requested before, I may also work on a dark theme some day.

you created a really great theme :) i released a murrine theme too, and i know how difficult it is, to create nice effects and a homogeneous look. you did this perfectly.
it´s also almost bugless, instead of mine...i have some trouble with colours in ff3.
so, all in all: RESPECT, you did a very good job :)

Noticed, seems not a gtkrc bug, but a engine bug. Could you please send Cimi a bug report?
