Description:

That's a mockup of a Media Player, with database capabilities, for KDE4. I was thinking about combining all the best features found on several media players in market [Amarok, Windows Media Player, iTunes, Songbird, Totem, etc (offline/online audio/video player - youtube player, etc)], into one and single media player.
What say you?

Changelog:

Update #1
I've added the "Collection" tab mockup and the media informations for movies.

Update #2
I've added the "Devices" tab mockup.

This could be the next kaffeine look.

This just looks great. Simple and powerfull.

What I would littlebit change, is that control buttons on top left corner... user does not need "Previus/Next" buttons because videos can be swiched from playlist on right.

The mockup needs an PVR configs so, there should be change to use it as videoplayer/recorder too. So add there a "record" button (like on Kdenlive 0.7) and list to get a EPG (Electronic Program Guide) tab as there is now devices etc. And then when you have now that "library", it would just store all recordings there so there is no need for more "tabs". Mayby not call it as "EPG" but "TV" what would come up when you have DVB-T/C/S device connected.

Otherwise very great mockup of videoplayer what KDE4 is missing.

I would not try to get Amarok2 to look like this because it is pure musicplayer and I would keep it such, the musicvideos is the "edge" of features what can be added for Amarok.

I just ask if possible, to do a update for this mockup about how it would look with DVB option (Kaffeine is best video recorder software out there!) and with 16:9 screen ration.

So I would forget this "mockup player" to try to be a music player, but just simple videoplayer/recorder.

Hopefully few developers see this and can use it.

Have you sended it to Kaffeine Postlist?

"user does not need "Previus/Next" buttons because videos can be swiched from playlist on right"

They are needed when:
a) your playlist is long
b) for skipping chapters on dvds

Previous/Next is also useful when using Shuffle.

Forgot to add, in your mockup you have "media information" showing about music what is playing. I suggest if you update your mockup, to add a mockup of same tab but when playing a movie (DVD/file) and it would show information to it from IMDB.com from where it would grep most needed information (cast, rating, quote etc).
