No need for the hate... this is just brainstorming.

Personally I see many ideas I like in here that really seem like the polish that Gnome needs... I like the simple yet attractive menu [perhaps scaled back a little to fit on my small screen ;-) ]

really awesome and elegant yet simple look.
though, transparency depends on composition!
that would be nice if gnome implemented (or adopted) a simple composition manager to embed (like that's of xfce).

another point, how should the (ehm, really big) menu icon appear when a window is maximized ? above (not usable for the foreground application) or below (cropped icon, not elegant).


btw, i hate michel jacson, for some reason he reminds me of microsoft windowses, a new plasty every release with no real cure to horribleness, actually it accumulates.
