Description:

The Baghira style was created by thomas12777:

Please direct any questions, bug reports or requests to the original author.

This rpm has been built and tested on Mandrake 10.1 with KDE 3.2. Older versions and source rpms are available at sf.net.

Note: To quickly switch between Aqua and Brushed styles, start bab from the KDE menu (System/Other) or from the konsole.

If the download fails with a "Not Found" error, please try a different mirror or try again later as it takes a while for all the sf.net mirrors to get updated.

 0.5 issues

If you're having problems with the 0.5 rpm please download it again and do a forced upgrade (rpm -U --force). I've recompiled it again on a standard Mandrake 10 install with the default qt libraries (3.2.3). Sorry for the inconvenience.

ntesa, thanks again for continuing to make Mandrake RPM's for the beautiful Baghira style. My friends and family really do appreciate your effort.

Please, keep up the great work!

for the job.

I've taken your src.rpm to include it in my repository ;-)

I'm running MDK 10.

After rebuilding your src.rpm and installing I cannot change the splash screen.

I'm stuck with Britanny Spears, ugh.

Britney rocks :) The binary rpm is build for mdk10, so you shouldn't have to rebuild unless you have newer qt or kde installed. Anyways, if you're talking about the KDE splash screen, you should be able to change it, I just tried it on my machine. Give me more details if you're still having problems, I don't understand exactly what's going on.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm running Mandrake 10 with all of the updates and a lot of packages from Contrib.

I thought that maybe it was a problem with the fact that I recompiled the RPM myself so I took your RPM file over to my laptop which also runs Mandrake 10.

Sure enough, the same problem.

I can't get rid of Britany!

Where are the files kept for this, so at the least I can replace them.

Thanks!

BTW: Now even if I turn off this theme/style/decoration/login theme... I still get Britany no matter what.

Any ideas?

I also can't find the pixmap.

Fixed it!

Apparently the RPM installation copies the Theme.rc and associated .png files into ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/Themes

When Baghira is turned on for any user this happens as well.

Anyway this overrides the default theme settings in the Kcontrol Splash applet.

I merely moved the files into ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/Britany and the problem stopped.

You may want to see about adjusting the RPM.

EXCELLENT never-the-less!

The rpm doesn't install any splash screens, let alone Britney. I thought you already had a Britney splash screen installed and you couldn't switch to another one because of some theme bugs. The rpm doesn't/shouldn't change anyhing in the user's home directory. I'll test it on another mdk 10 machine tomorrow, but it doesn't make any sense to me, unless the rpms on sourceforge have been somehow altered, and it doesn't look like that anyways. You can check all the files distributed with the rpm by doing an rpm -qlp on the rpm file. Do you see any Britney splash screens there? I'll look more into it, but this doesn't make any sense at all.

No I didn't see anything that would indicate that the RPM was installing any splash screen.

However when I went to install the compiled RPM you posted on my laptop, the same thing happened.

Britany appeared where it wasn't before (nor had I downloaded or installed any such theme...).

The Baghira RPM was the only thing installed that would account for this.

Britany didn't appear prior to it's installation.

While I may be mistaken, I have yet to find the source of the Britany splash screen which was installed.

Thanks though.

ntesa,
Can you please take that Britney Spears grabage out of the RPM? Many people may stop using Baghira altogether if the Britney Spears problem persists.

Thanks.

I didn't put any Britney Spears splash screens or anything else in the rpms, it's just Baghira. I've only included the Baghira artwork, which is copied under /usr/share/doc/kdemoreartwork-baghira-0.5b/goodies, but it's not installed anyways. The rpm doesn't/shouldn't change anything in the user's home directory. Are you having the same problem? Can anybody else confirm anything related to this? It doesn't make any sense unless the rpms have been altered somehow on sourceforge. Thanks.

 no style conf module

by helmerj on: Aug 31 2004

hi!

I used the SRPM to rebuild the RPM on my pclinuxOS system (based on MDK 10.0) running kde 3.3 and qt 3.3.3.

The Style is listed under Look and feel and is still used with my old settings from the 0.4 version. What is gone is the kcmshell module baghira which allows me to configure the style. After manually adding back an empty Goddies directory the SRPM built just fine with no errors. Is this on purpose or am I missing something in my build? (with the supplied RPM file it is the same...)

Thanks J.

You should see a button to configure the style just right next to style choosen.

As Sagittarius pointed out, there's a "Configure" button next to the style dropdown which brings up the configuration window, this replaces the old kcmshell module. Sorry for the Gooddies directory build issues, it looks like it's not included in 0.5d, I just copied it from the 0.5c archive. It will probably show up again in the next release.
