Description:

This is a set of ideas, based on ideas i found here.

So we have to know that a newer version of gnome doesnt mean newer version of applications, neither apps. So we can design the model of the desktop distribution, or other charasteristics, like properties.

....Awesome. I love the idea and how you presented it. The 'dock' at the bottom seems a bit too small for me. But overall, this idea deserves more than 5 stars!

Hi,
First of all, this idea looks amazing, I totaly like it, and it's really useful.. Btw, it reminds me on KDE distribution of Ubuntu, Kubuntu, and, maybe, it'll be good to add buttons for group selection, to replace CTRL, like in Kubintu..
And, plz, can you share with me, Icon theme, which you are useing in screenshoot..?

I personally do not like the use of the menubar, rather it be the global menubar or the applications/places/system menu, as such I do not like this idea.

My first objection to the menubar is that it does not effectively use the right click part of the mouse very effectively. In my opinion, menus are not very good UI elements. They were invented like twenty years ago and they are totally outclassed by the Ribbons seen in Windows 7. As such, menus should be hidden behind right-clicks as people are already used to that.

I personally decided to use the global menubar over the local menubar to save space, however, I now think neither are good options. The global menubar will just stay on the top of the screen to barely be used or even looked at. It essentially wastes screen space and causes problems when you have multiple desktops. You could just as easily hide the entire menu under a right click.

As for the applications/places/system menu, it is quite clear now that a text based approach to these things is superior, that is the best way to get to an application is to type it like in Windows Vista, KDE, or Gnome-Do.
