Description:

Okay. So the idea is simple, but would probably pretty hard to implement. (GTK would need some patching, and Metacity would need a complete rewrite.) Then again it would free up some space on the screen, and add a unique look to GNOME.
There would be two problems with it though usability wise.
1. Either the menus won't start on the same place of the window/screen, or the titlebar text should have a limited length. (And "..." if it exceeds it.)
2. Menubar text would not start on the top left corner of the window, so it would not be at the "usual" place. (Altough it could be placed in the top left corner of the window, and titlebar text right next to the 3 buttons on the right, kinda like on Google Chrome.)

I used the original Intuition theme with Gion icons for the mockup.

I was thinking of that too.
My current idea is, that an app in the background would produce a borderless window containing the menu for every application that has one, and put it on the titlebar. Kinda hackish idea though.

Interesting spin on the reclaiming window space idea.

nope.
1. I haven't used it yet, just saw screenies.
2. The baby blue colorscheme is ugly.
3. The Vistaish exit/minimize/maximize buttons are... well ... vistaish.
4. As far as I know there's no AdBlockker plugin yet.

So for me, Chrome's only good thing is that it uses WebKit.

But this is way offtopic.

I like how chrome and IE7 both try to save realestate taken up by the tabs/menus/icons. Firefox dropped the ball there.

This is generally a bad idea.

A title bar is supposed to provide a useful information to an user. What if a program has a long menubar and a long descriptive title would be? The programmer will have to decide what is more important so it will be a significant reducing of the flexibility.

None by the moment

Actually, the problem is that the developer can't decide. The window decorator shouldn't exist, Compiz/Metacity should manage the windows, but the border itself should be draw by the application itself, this would improve a lot the desktop design.
