I hate to break it to you dude but your theme doesn't look anything like Aero. Back to the drawing board. Oh, and try something original next time.

Thanks for the comment. And yeah i know. The Only thing that really resembles aero at all are the buttons and scrollbar. I started out doing a version very similar to aero but did not really think it looked all that good on linux. So I ended up making this, and I just took a leap of faith. I hope after enough comments and suggestions that I can make a completely new theme from this. But we will see what happens.

 Menubar and toolbar look flat

by SpikeyB on: Sep 7 2008

I quite like the panel. It looks 3 dimensional and shiny.

However, the menubar and toolbar don't quite look right. I don't know if it's to do with lack of gradients but they just look like they are made from 2 lines that are different colours.

I think you will improve the look if you address this issue.

That's much better. The new version has a glassy look. Definite improvement.

 Whoa!

This theme has some serious usability issues, at least in Xfce, anyways. On the panel, I noticed that I had black text on a black background, which makes the panel text unreadable, which I consider to be a no-no. I like the colors you've got in the screenshots, but if you wanna have a black panel background, the panel text needs to be white so that it's readable.

I do not know what to tell you. On my computer the text is white, it is also white on the second screenshot. I am going to guess it is because you are using Xfce, and the panel text on that may be controlled by something else.

Well, I can tell you for a fact that I have several other themes on here, including the one I'm using right now, known as "Future", that has a dark panel background AND white text, so I know for a fact it can be done.

I am sorry fredbird, I am sure it can be done but I have no way of testing it. I created this theme using GNOME and I do not have Xfce. So sorry but thank you for taking a look at my theme and telling me of this problem.

 Couple more improvements

by SpikeyB on: Sep 7 2008

I think you need to change the inactive tab text colour to white.

Also, you need to improve your toolbar buttons (active and prelight). They look like the text is struck out.

Just my opinion.

I get the toolbar and tabs but I am not sure I fully understand what you mean about the text. But thanks for the suggestions.

OK, when you hover over a button the text looks like this Menu

Not literally but because the button has a black line it makes the button text look like it has a line through it.

Hope that makes sense to you.

Oh! I get what you are saying. It was not the text but just the button design that was causing this. That should not be the case anymore though, I changed the toolbuttons.

OK, glad I explained it better.

Next, the improvements you made to the menubar need doing to the scrollbars.

Don't forget to work on the tabs.

Good idea I really had not thought about the bars colors. And I tried fixing the tabs but could not get it to work. This is strange because I have been able to this with other themes in the past. But do not worry I will figure it out. Thanks for the ideas!!!

I sent a PM. Forget the \ symbols, they just seem to appear for no apparent reason with " and ' symbols.

I do not usually comment but had to say I really like this. I think it is original. I do, however, think you should rename it to something original. Good job.

Thanks! It is always good to hear some positive feedback. But I am not sure if the name should be changed or not. I like how it sounds and it attracts attention. But if you have any ideas please let me know.
