Description:

It's not nice like I'd want, it's only an idea...

---- edit #2 ----

today I've started to develop this plasmoid, at the moment it does not look like the mockup at all... I'll try to do the best I can...

Likewise. I have been waiting for skopete (for superkaramba) to be updated for KDE4, but I would prefer something specifically for plasma for kopete.

I wish I knew how to make it.

But, this plasmoid requires kopete, so in KDE4 I can have installed kopete + plasmoid (and I think difference is in windows border ;) )

 I think

I like this. That said, I think that any given widget-set from an application should be able to be made a plasmoid, rather like making the app sticky across virtual desktops in other WMs.

Lancelot Part cand do that ...

I am pleased with LancelotPart being on the desktop and "Contacts" from Kopete in it ... it gives almost a similar view as your idea. You can have all you contacts from Kopete and you can click on them to start chatting. It also shows images/avatars, real name and user name.

 Grid

I'd love a grid-view contact list, like in synapse: http://synapse.im/

I think that a grid view may be a little annoying: suppose you have 200 contacts, do you think it could be better a grid view or a "classical" list?
However it could be nice :P

When I'll have something stable I can try to implement a grid view, but I don't know how difficult can it be :\
