Description:

Audex is an audio grabber tool for CD-ROM drives based on KDE 4.

Audex creates profiles for LAME, OGG Vorbis (oggenc), FLAC, MP4/M4A/AAC (faac) and RIFF WAVE. Please install your favorite encoder.
Of course for WAVE no external encoder is needed!
Beyond you can define custom profile, which means, that audex works together with commmand line encoders in general.

You can define extensive filename schemes. Please take a look at the documentation on the Audex webpage to see what's possible.

Some features are:
* Extracting with CDDA Paranoia. So you have quite perfect audio quality.
* Extracting and encoding run parallel.
* Extensive filename schemes.
* Filename editing with local and remote CDDB/FreeDB database.
* Metadata correction tools like capitalize etc.
* Multi-profile ripping (with one commandline-encoder per profile).
* Fetch covers from the internet and store them in the database.
* Create playlists, cover and template-based-info files in target directory.
* Creates ripping and encoding protocols.
* Transfer files with KDE KIO-Slaves.

**IMPORTANT NOTE: As LAME still can't handle unicode characters correct, Audex uses since version 0.73 eyeD3 for tagging mp3 files, if available. It is highly recommended to install eye3D on your system if you create mp3 files with Audex! **

Changelog:

Changelog 0.79 (Södertälje release)
* Only bugfix release.

 audex 0.72beta 1 crashing

 by leonc on: Jun 19 2010

Score 50%

I am using 2.6.33.5-124.fc13.x86_64
Having just found this program it would be ideal for me. I usually rip to flac or mp3 with k3b but recently it started crashing around last track. Now using Audex 0.72beta1 I get the pop up quite often about drive reading slow etc and then it may continue or sometimes it crashes If I terminate and try again it finishes the job. I can see no problem with the CDs, no scratches etc.
I am putting it down to Fedora's/ Kde multimedia (fedora has never been good with multimedia as far as I experienced) issues but I don't know.
I also have 2 drives but can only access sr0.

By the way any idea when next upgrade will come out?

A little update - if I let the message popup stay and not answer yes or no it seems to finish ripping and I believe all tracks are ok. If I hit 'yes' to continue I get an error, then I restart and rip again and the program continues from the track it stopped at.

just noticed that when I up'd to openSuse 11.3 there was no Audex update, so I'm running the rpm from 11.2 which might be the problem - so please ignore until I can determine if a real problem
