I just downloaded this set of icon's however, neither Archiver or the icon theme installer can open the file? Is the name correct?

Sure looks like a first rate set of icons.

Looking forward to trying them out!

Regards

 Use KControl

Remember that the dowload link off KLO doesn't work - get it form his homepage.

Install it like any other icon themese via Control Center (kcontrol).

Then go into ~/.kde2/share/icons/slick/ and run install.sh as root.

Hope this helps,
Ty

You mean open your eyes and read the first part where it says to download these Icon's from!

Geez, what a dumbass, (ME), sorry for the wasted bandwidth and thanks.

Regards.

 Suggestions

Here's some suggestions that have hit me over the course of using Slick for a good while:

1. Still need a print-preview icon. This notion is hard to capture...after thinking about it, I have a couple of suggestions: a) light-buld in front of a printer, or b) a piece of paper circumscribed by "thinking cloud" a la comic strips.

2. "Logout/Quit" (quit.png) button appears a little choppy. Maybe make it a little bigger (and hence smoother). It might help to make the "lock" buttom slightly bigger, too.

3. Probably not feasible with all the information already going into the icons, but a "sheen" or crystal look would push Slick so far over the top I'd refuse to use anything else ever again. :o)

I know some of the icons (well, a lot) already havep hoto-realistic light glare on them, but I'm talking about the icon as a whole. As if they were made out of colored glass. The analogue of what Everaldo is doing with iKons.

4. Add a zip-drive icon.

5. Make a greater differentiation between mounted/unmounted in the Floppy (3floppy_*.png) icon. Right now the difference is really subtle (the disc cover slides over when mounted) and hard to catch. I don't how to do this, except switch to a drive icon a la CD and DVD icons.

6. I love the new "Remove/Close" (remove.png) icon. The only nitpick I have is that is th upper left hand coner is too bright, making it hard to see the "x".

7. Perhaps a project for someone else down the road, as I know you've expressed a desire to move on to another project, but make them into SVG icons for KDE3. That would be trmemendous job, probably involving redrawing them in howefer you author SVG, and not feasible in the near future. A "wish I would win the lottery" kind of thing. But I'd like to at least put the idea out there for whoever in the future.

It's hard to think of improvements, this theme is getting so good. :o)

Again, thanks for all your hard work!
Ty

 A Small Sugestion

Amibug,

I gotta say that I love your icons, I've been using them since I found them a couple/few months ago. I posted above about changing various icons here and there, and that just got me thinking:

Your tarball is far to large for this site (and kinda brutal over 56k also). You include a zillion icons in it that most people probably didn't even know where there (I know I didn't until your response above). My suggetion is upload a trimed down package to this site. Ya know, a package that contains only what you've decided are the "default" icons in your package, then take your "expanded package" and maintain that on your site.

It's more work for you, I know. I'm just offering the suggestion. You can tell me to blow it out my ass any time now... :-)

/me prepares for flames

:-)

Anyway, thanx Ami for a WONDERFUL icon package!

Could you make the floppy cdrom icons more 3D u know like Ikons but more photorealistic. The printer icon also. The 2nd printer icon is actually damn good except that it isn't as photorealsitic as the firts one. Thnaks Amibug for the great icon
To others. plz check out my ice wing dale theme which seems to go very well with thi icon set. And tell me what u think thanks all

 Update icon

I really love these icons, but I have a problem with one of them (don't take it as criticism, they are still the best icons for KDE) and that's the Update icon. Have you tried what thicker arrows and a more round movement would do to them?

Other than that they are excellent and make me proud of showing KDE at work and to friends. Thanks.
