 Installation

The Icons installation screen is a bit dodgey. You arnt the first person it has tripped up.

To install...
1. Open the icon prefs by clicking on:
"KDE Go icon" > Preferences > Look&feel > icons

2. Click on the little folder that is directly to the left of the "Install new theme" button.
3. Select Slick_1.1.tar.gz from the file selector & press Ok.
4. Then! Click the "Install new theme" button.
5. Choose Slick from the list of icon themes.

The other thing is you shouldnt be using KDE as root.
You could easily move or delete an important system folder while browsing around, rendering your system unuseable.

Shady WWW sites also have the potential to do massive damage to your system.. Instead of just being able to murder your personal files, they could potentially murder your whole system!, and any others you might have installed.

For normal day to day linux use you should create a 'normal' user account.. This should have been done during installation. If not your redhat book will surely tell you how to do it.

When you download Slick, hold down the shift key when you click on the link. This should pop up a requester giving you the option to save the file where you want and with the correct name.

Much better this time. I even like those filetype icons, but toolbat icons are still lame. Why dont you make those "back" or "previous" look like normal arrows ?

You made a very nice icon set for KDE. Only one thing though I love it if you made some icons for applications and devices like Evoluiton, Mozilla, Galeon, Opera, etc.. Also icons for hard drives especially ones that hold differrent partions like windows one or Linux would be sweet! Keep up the great work and don't let the haters and trolls get you down.

I like all of those icons except for the Konqueror one. It reminds me of the old webcrawler home page.

The KOffice icons are awesome!

It's a bit confusing, with the magnifier. The entire set is awesome...not really complaining, but since this is a widly used icon...

Just my taste though...

Amibug,

I really have to hand it to you.

I used to despair over the lack of photo-realistic/professional icons for KDE. I tried porting some of the GNOME icons, but didn't get very far as I didn't have the time nor did simply resizing the GNOME/Nautilus icons come out right (I ended up with a very tall, very skinny trashcan icon). Plus they're kinda too dark.

Then Slick comes out. WOW! Then Slick keeps getting updated and even better. Personally, I like them better than GNOME (NOTE: I'm _not_ trying to start a flame-war; I like GNOME icons), as they're photo-realistic without being too dark.

I can't rave too much about Slick. Great job! I am vey grateful for your work. You've made a wonderful contribution to KDE. And just when I think it's the greatest thing ever, it get's better.

Heck, I even took a likin' to the file-cabinet folder icons. :o)

Happy *n*xing!
Ty
