Description:

A dark (black & white) theme for gnome desktop.
Thanks to Gnome Fanatic for the name!

I just recieved mail being told this
theme is the default in PCLOS Gnome 2008 !

More info and download here: http://linuxgator.org/

suggestions very welcome!

PLS! tell me what you think!

!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!

To install:
1.Download the file to your desktop
2.Right click the file and select extract here, then another archive pops up,do
the same for that.
3.open a terminal and run these commands:

first
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/SlicknesS /usr/share/themes

second (this one fixes firefox, don't need this for ff3, only 2 This fix is made by user twrock, so if he wants me to delete it i will)
cp /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS/userChrome.css $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome

4.Open the theme manager, you can now
see the SlicknesS theme as a theme,
when you click on it , it suggests
taners amazing wallpaper he made for this theme!!
click apply to apply the wallpaper!

the icon theme it suggests is this one:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

any problems with the install let me know!!!!

One REALLY HUGE thank you to artist Taner
for his fantastic wallpaper!

Changelog:

2.2.2 probably the last update, this should
fix the message of an engine "" not installed
I can't try it myself if it works (since I don't have
gnome installed) so if anyone would be kind
to let me know if it works, it would be kind :)
This will probably be my last fix as I'm not on
gnome anymore.

2.2.1 Fixed my previous F**kup. (at least I hope so)
(it's been tested on ubunut 7.10). If anyone still
has any kind of problem please be so kind and let me
know!

To read full changelog read changelog.txt in
the SlicknesS folder.

Wow!

that does look very nasty!

I can only search the code for something
that might cause this... since I don't use
xfce myself I can't actually try if it
works, if you have any skills of editing
gtkrc I would suggest you try to do some
"hacking" yourself, I will try to figure
it out but as I said, I can't try it out.

If you do some hacking yourself and
get it to work or work better, please let
me know!

 Colour Change?

I was wondering could you change the highlight colour (when you click, hold and drag mouse to highlight files) from black to the old blue colour present in "Noname"?

Hmm, If I change that, it will change in many other places also...

But I'm thinking about making some colored
versions some time of this theme, (since I've been asked to)

However , if you want to change it yourself do the following:

type in terminal

(if you installed with theme manager)

gedit $HOME/.themes/SlicknesS/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

scroll down to line 65 where it says:

base[SELECTED] = "#3d3d3d"

and change it to:

base[SELECTED] = "#5DBAE5"

and save... then reload the theme or restart x or log out and in....

that changes some other effects to that color also.

Anyway, you can give it a try!

That worked but I found out that the real problem was that I liked your Noname theme more than this so I have switched back to it. Noname just seems better in terms of practicality (bigger menu) and Slickness seems too black for me (black sliders, black selecting files and black loading bars) but Noname has a nice blend of black and blue.

Its not that im saying Slickness is bad, I still like it but just not as much as Noname.

Thanks for your feedback on my work GnomeFanatic!

If there is no longer a problem with seeing the wireless strength
I can list that as a fix in the next release.

If you find something else that is wrong or have suggestions of improvement
pls let me know!

I am truly sorry to say this but since I
don't experience the problem myself I
have no clue on how to solve it :(

If you mean you have white text in the
windows I have open in the third screenshot.

 How do I change the

How do I change the spacing?

Theres too much spacing between items on the menus (panel). Now my preferences menu goes all the way down the screen...

I like the smaller spacing from some previous versions. How can I edit that?

Other than that, I liked the improvements a lot, just didnt like the new scroolbars too much. Grey or silver scrollbars would be better IMHO.

Thanks.

Thanks!

To edit the menuitem-spacing:

run in term

gedit $HOME/.themes/SlicknesS/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

scroll down to line 1063 where you see
ythickness = 4
change that to something between 0 and 3
,save, then logout and in or restart x or whatever.
You should now have smaller spacing :)

if it doesn't work, I can make them smaller in next release :)

PS, I'll consider different scrollbars.

Hope this helps!
