Description:

A dark (black & white) theme for gnome desktop.
Thanks to Gnome Fanatic for the name!

I just recieved mail being told this
theme is the default in PCLOS Gnome 2008 !

More info and download here: http://linuxgator.org/

suggestions very welcome!

PLS! tell me what you think!

!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!

To install:
1.Download the file to your desktop
2.Right click the file and select extract here, then another archive pops up,do
the same for that.
3.open a terminal and run these commands:

first
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/SlicknesS /usr/share/themes

second (this one fixes firefox, don't need this for ff3, only 2 This fix is made by user twrock, so if he wants me to delete it i will)
cp /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS/userChrome.css $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome

4.Open the theme manager, you can now
see the SlicknesS theme as a theme,
when you click on it , it suggests
taners amazing wallpaper he made for this theme!!
click apply to apply the wallpaper!

the icon theme it suggests is this one:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

any problems with the install let me know!!!!

One REALLY HUGE thank you to artist Taner
for his fantastic wallpaper!

Changelog:

2.2.2 probably the last update, this should
fix the message of an engine "" not installed
I can't try it myself if it works (since I don't have
gnome installed) so if anyone would be kind
to let me know if it works, it would be kind :)
This will probably be my last fix as I'm not on
gnome anymore.

2.2.1 Fixed my previous F**kup. (at least I hope so)
(it's been tested on ubunut 7.10). If anyone still
has any kind of problem please be so kind and let me
know!

To read full changelog read changelog.txt in
the SlicknesS folder.

 Pimp This Theme

Like many people do on ubuntu. Is removing the top bar and put it all down. I will write here how to do it for this theme.

Example:
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FeestBijtje/slickness-menu.png

Step one:
Download and apply the SlicknesS theme.
Download the file, Extract to your home/.themes directory. Apply the fixes within the comments.

Step Two:
Delete the Lower panel. Right click on top panel and click "New Panel"

Now you got a clean/whiped ready to be configured. Right click on the Lower panel and go to "Properties" Adjust the panel to 34 pixels in the "General" tap.

Add a "Main Menu" to your panel by right-clicking on an empty area on the panel and selecting "Add to Panel". There are two types of menus there - you want to pick the one represented by a single icon of the Ubuntu logo (or whatever your Linux distro uses as a default image).

Now add 3 Separators 2 next to the Gnome logo and one on the right. Leave about 2 inches space left from the right.

Between the 2 separators put your browsers/email applications. And move on to the right side.

Add over there: Clock, Volume Control, Network Monitor and Notification Area.
Order them in line as you like and don't bug your self about it.

Were heading back to the "Left Side". Add there next to the 2nd Seperator: window list.

Congrats you got now a windows look like task bar.

Step Three.
Download a menu icon. For this example i used the one from "Dark Ice" Theme.

You can download the "Menu" and the "Bar" from my photobucket.

Links:
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FeestBijtje/menu.png
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FeestBijtje/panel-bg-black.png

Save them in your ".themes" folder in your home directory.

Step Four.
Set the custom menu graphic, you need to open the Configuration Editor under the "System Tools" menu - or for you hardcore types, "gconf-editor" at the command line. Go to apps->panel->objects and you'll see a series of object_x subitems. Click through them until you find the one where the value for "object_type" is "menu-object". Check the "use_custom_icon" option and then set the "custom_icon" value to the path to your custom button graphic, i.e. "/home/username/Pictures/menu.png". The graphic should update immediately.

Alternative:
To use the costum background as well. Right click on an empty space > Properties > Background > Use background image. And browse to "panel-bg-black.png"

Tested this on: Debian Lenny/sid

I don't know, maybe you need to install the pixbuf engine (I think it's pixbuf2-engine...better check synaptic or whichever package manager.) I say this because the "separators" in the panel appear like those dotted lines if pixbug isn't installed.

Thank you guys for your lovely comments
and a great how to!! :D

really appreciated.

The panel is not supposed to look like that...

I cannot understand why it draws the toolbar
buttons on the panel.

Btw, are you sure you are using the latest
version 0.5? since it works fine for me
on both ubuntu 7.04 and 7.10.

I love this theme, but is there any chance of you making a dark version, with dark background in nautilus and what not?
Would be cool to have 2 versions for those of us who like black themes.
