Description:

A dark (black & white) theme for gnome desktop.
Thanks to Gnome Fanatic for the name!

I just recieved mail being told this
theme is the default in PCLOS Gnome 2008 !

More info and download here: http://linuxgator.org/

suggestions very welcome!

PLS! tell me what you think!

!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!

To install:
1.Download the file to your desktop
2.Right click the file and select extract here, then another archive pops up,do
the same for that.
3.open a terminal and run these commands:

first
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/SlicknesS /usr/share/themes

second (this one fixes firefox, don't need this for ff3, only 2 This fix is made by user twrock, so if he wants me to delete it i will)
cp /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS/userChrome.css $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome

4.Open the theme manager, you can now
see the SlicknesS theme as a theme,
when you click on it , it suggests
taners amazing wallpaper he made for this theme!!
click apply to apply the wallpaper!

the icon theme it suggests is this one:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

any problems with the install let me know!!!!

One REALLY HUGE thank you to artist Taner
for his fantastic wallpaper!

Changelog:

2.2.2 probably the last update, this should
fix the message of an engine "" not installed
I can't try it myself if it works (since I don't have
gnome installed) so if anyone would be kind
to let me know if it works, it would be kind :)
This will probably be my last fix as I'm not on
gnome anymore.

2.2.1 Fixed my previous F**kup. (at least I hope so)
(it's been tested on ubunut 7.10). If anyone still
has any kind of problem please be so kind and let me
know!

To read full changelog read changelog.txt in
the SlicknesS folder.

Nice!
Now I've got to find a suiting icon theme to this... damn, I like my ultimate gnome. I L O V E D the menus in this though.

Would there perhaps possibly be any tiny chance that someone (as in the creator-someone) might create a gray version of this or might possibly allow someone else to edit this?? :#
I'm truly sorry, but I LOVE my ultimate gnome icon theme as well and I can't give it up.

Great! Thanks!

Glad you like it!

As for icons I'm currently using the
black-white2 set that I have the link to
above... currently waiting to get my hands
on these:
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Titanium?content=75038

It will be pre-released any time now :D

as for grey version I'm not sure what
you mean.... I made a black version:

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if the wallpaper is not accesible at the moment, but if i set the GTK Theme it suggest me the Wallpaper, but when i click on apply, the theme sets me a complete dark blue wallpaper, wich i think can't be the right wallpaper?

Are you sure you followed my install instructions
above?

There is a 0% chance it works if you did not.

If you did , then try :

chmod 666 /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS/Slickness.jpg

(do this as root)

if that don't work then maybe 777... if
that don't work then I have no idea :)

 My window burns :-)

Hi rob,

first of all - very nice work, I love this theme from the first minute I saw it :-) There's only one little problem I would like to solve: The glow around the windows is red or a kind of pink. Where can I change the color of this (to white for example)? Should I have to edit the gtkrc or is this setting somewhere else?

thanks & keep your creativity

flo

Thank you!

There is now pink/red glow around windows
in this theme so I'm afraid I have no idea
what you are talking about :)

I don't know, maybe post a screeenshot of
your problem..

Hi,

Have a look here: http://www.250kb.de/u/080423/p/528898d8.png

Is this maybe a problem with the hardware?

Wow!

That is unlike any problem I have seen
before!

I have absoutely no idea what could have
caused that, however I don't think it's
a problem with your hardware(it's highly
unlikely)

If you use compiz with emerald you can
try to install the emerald window borders
theme from here:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/SlicknesS+Emerald?content=73972

please reply if that works better :)

I bet they are using ubuntu 8.04. I am also and it has this (what used to be cool) glow on all objects; but now that I just installed this theme (friggin great theme BTW) I no longer like the glow.

I have been looking all night for a why to turn it off. I have a feeling that I can turn Visual Effects off 'Extra', but I like my wobble windows.

If the problem is there only when using
compiz I don't really believe it's related
to this theme!

just install the package compizconfig-settings-manager

(sudo apt-get install compizconfig-setttings-manager)

and change the shadow there or install
my emerald theme I made for slickness
(download link can be found right beneath
the download button for this theme)

Also, thank you for your nice words about
my theme! really appreciated.

hope this helps

I think what happened there is that someone messed with the Shadow colors under Compiz. At least that's what it looks like to me.

By the way, I love this theme, it's the longest living theme on my desktop so far. I usually like to change it every few weeks, but it's been here a while and on both my laptop and desktop!
