Description:

A dark (black & white) theme for gnome desktop.
Thanks to Gnome Fanatic for the name!

I just recieved mail being told this
theme is the default in PCLOS Gnome 2008 !

More info and download here: http://linuxgator.org/

suggestions very welcome!

PLS! tell me what you think!

!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!

To install:
1.Download the file to your desktop
2.Right click the file and select extract here, then another archive pops up,do
the same for that.
3.open a terminal and run these commands:

first
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/SlicknesS /usr/share/themes

second (this one fixes firefox,don't need this for ff3, only 2 This fix is made by user twrock, so if he wants me to delete it i will)
cp /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS/userChrome.css $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome

4.Open the theme manager, you can now
see the SlicknesS theme as a theme,
when you click on it , it suggests
taners amazing wallpaper he made for this theme!!
click apply to apply the wallpaper!

the icon theme it suggests is this one:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

any problems with the install let me know!!!!

One REALLY HUGE thank you to artist Taner
for his fantastic wallpaper!

Changelog:

2.2.2 probably the last update, this should
fix the message of an engine "" not installed
I can't try it myself if it works (since I don't have
gnome installed) so if anyone would be kind
to let me know if it works, it would be kind :)
This will probably be my last fix as I'm not on
gnome anymore.

2.2.1 Fixed my previous F**kup. (at least I hope so)
(it's been tested on ubunut 7.10). If anyone still
has any kind of problem please be so kind and let me
know!

To read full changelog read changelog.txt in
the SlicknesS folder.

This is how I got the panel to work in the gtkrc file.
Just add this.
style "theme-panel"
{
fg[NORMAL] = "#ffffff"
fg[PRELIGHT] = "#ffffff"
fg[ACTIVE] = "#ffffff"
fg[SELECTED] = "#ffffff"
fg[INSENSITIVE] = "#ffffff"
text[PRELIGHT] = "#ffffff"
text[NORMAL] = "#ffffff"
text[ACTIVE] = "#ffffff"
bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = "panel/panel-bg.png"

}

Oops I was in XFCE and the panel didn't work.
Removed the last stuff and added this to panel.rc and it works.

Thanks!

I'm on gnome myself and if I set the
class "*Panel*" to use panel style then it will break the standard shutdown dialog and the launcher editor (they will use panel background and panel buttons , so it is impossible to read when it's black text on black) the stuff I declared in the panel.rc I did so that those two things would work also :)

too bad it didn't in xfce :(

as for releasing this as I theme, I will when it's ready, it's still version 0.2 and there are some very ugly stuff to take care of in this theme and I'm sure there are thousands of bugs too :)
Thanks for the nice tutorial thou :D

Thanks for the wallpapers.

No need to thank me, you deserved it, its a wonderful theme. I also think this theme is a good base point for future themes with different colours and all.

Hope to see more rocking themes from you. Good job :D

for this theme. I like the dark menus/light application colors. Is a dark theme that works nicely with eclipse. In most dark themes eclipse is unusable.

One suggestion: make a version with smaller min/max/close buttons for apps.

thanx for the theme

i forgot one more suggestion: for menu options with submenus, add a visual indicator (an > or something) so the submenus look different than options without submenus.

Thanks!!

I actually haven't made the minimize maximize close buttons yet, I just re-used the ones from my last theme (NoName) , I will make those when I have the time and creativity, as for the menu indicators, I made those to version 0.2 (it's 0.3 now) , try to dload the theme again and install and log out and in (if I understood you correctly about the indicators this should fix the problem) :)
