Description:

A dark (black & white) theme for gnome desktop.
Thanks to Gnome Fanatic for the name!

I just recieved mail being told this
theme is the default in PCLOS Gnome 2008 !

More info and download here: http://linuxgator.org/

suggestions very welcome!

PLS! tell me what you think!

!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!

To install:
1.Download the file to your desktop
2.Right click the file and select extract here, then another archive pops up,do
the same for that.
3.open a terminal and run these commands:

first
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/SlicknesS /usr/share/themes

second (this one fixes firefox, don't need this for ff3, only 2 This fix is made by user twrock, so if he wants me to delete it i will)
cp /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS/userChrome.css $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome

4.Open the theme manager, you can now
see the SlicknesS theme as a theme,
when you click on it , it suggests
taners amazing wallpaper he made for this theme!!
click apply to apply the wallpaper!

the icon theme it suggests is this one:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

any problems with the install let me know!!!!

One REALLY HUGE thank you to artist Taner
for his fantastic wallpaper!

Changelog:

2.2.2 probably the last update, this should
fix the message of an engine "" not installed
I can't try it myself if it works (since I don't have
gnome installed) so if anyone would be kind
to let me know if it works, it would be kind :)
This will probably be my last fix as I'm not on
gnome anymore.

2.2.1 Fixed my previous F**kup. (at least I hope so)
(it's been tested on ubunut 7.10). If anyone still
has any kind of problem please be so kind and let me
know!

To read full changelog read changelog.txt in
the SlicknesS folder.

 not working properly

I really love this theme. Is it normal, that it looks real bad in some GTK progs like Synaptic for instance?

Can you make a mixture of SlicknesS and Clearlooks? I mean something using the buttons and such of clearlooks and the rest from your theme. That would be great!

Thanks!!!

If you followed my install instructions it should look
fine with synaptic and other apps that recuire
root priviledges :)

As for using clearlooks,,, I have thought about it..
But I wouldn't get the looks on the buttons that
I want :)....sry.

Feel free to experiment as much as you want tho ;D

hope this helps!!

Nice, but it reminds me too much about the WinXP patched themes, sorry.
Appreciate the effort though, for that I
vote + (good work anyway) ;)

Thank you very much for voting!

As for the patched themes, I'm sure someone
somewhere has done something similar,
it's quite impossible to creat something
totally new these days :)

I have however created everything in this
theme (except for the parts that use the
crux engine ofc) myself and I didn't take
much inspiration from other themes, most
inspiration for this theme comes from when
I installed the black-white iconset made
by Daniel Grimm.

Thanks!

 Synaptic looking bad

Rawfan if u didn't follow the instructions for the installation but installed it anyway try this:

Open a terminal and navigate to /root directory (cd /root) then type:

sudo ln -s /home/yourusername/.themes .themes

that one is for the themes. It will create a symbolic link in the root user folder to your user .themes folder named .themes. That will allow root to have the same themes u already have installed in your user. If u want to share your icons too with the super user just change .themes for .icons in the sentence. To finish the explanation just let u know that synaptics looks ugly because is the superuser who is executing it. That's why u enter your password before launching synaptics. That will solve problems with a superuser nautilus too and everything ^^. Hope it helped.

And just congratulate TheRob for such a great theme. Keep that good work on it and maybe someday it'll become default theme in a distro (i would vote for it ;).

Forgot to make a suggestion. I am an Avant Window Navigator user and i've noticed that the Main Menu applet as well as the Places Applet dont really make colors work correctly. Just saying it to let u know about and maybe solve it someday. Hope it'll be soon ;)

Thank you very much for your kind words
about liking my theme as much as being default!!!!

As for awn, could you provide me with a
screenshot showing the bug/feature request
as I don't use awn myself I don't experience
those problems :)

Thanks!
