Description:

A dark (black & white) theme for gnome desktop.
Thanks to Gnome Fanatic for the name!

I just recieved mail being told this
theme is the default in PCLOS Gnome 2008 !

More info and download here: http://linuxgator.org/

suggestions very welcome!

PLS! tell me what you think!

!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!

To install:
1.Download the file to your desktop
2.Right click the file and select extract here, then another archive pops up,do
the same for that.
3.open a terminal and run these commands:

first
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/SlicknesS /usr/share/themes

second (this one fixes firefox, don't need this for ff3, only 2 This fix is made by user twrock, so if he wants me to delete it i will)
cp /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS/userChrome.css $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome

4.Open the theme manager, you can now
see the SlicknesS theme as a theme,
when you click on it , it suggests
taners amazing wallpaper he made for this theme!!
click apply to apply the wallpaper!

the icon theme it suggests is this one:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

any problems with the install let me know!!!!

One REALLY HUGE thank you to artist Taner
for his fantastic wallpaper!

Changelog:

2.2.2 probably the last update, this should
fix the message of an engine "" not installed
I can't try it myself if it works (since I don't have
gnome installed) so if anyone would be kind
to let me know if it works, it would be kind :)
This will probably be my last fix as I'm not on
gnome anymore.

2.2.1 Fixed my previous F**kup. (at least I hope so)
(it's been tested on ubunut 7.10). If anyone still
has any kind of problem please be so kind and let me
know!

To read full changelog read changelog.txt in
the SlicknesS folder.

 black on black

I know it is VERY difficult for dark themes, and as I said SlicknesS is already the best as regard to quality (design is also the best, but there are many excellent designers on gnome-look ;))

I found another black on black problem, it happens with FireFTP (firefox plugin).

http://www.flickr.com/photos/24141133@N06/2295699124/

This may not be the theme's problem but fireftp's.

Anyway I just post it for your reference.

Thanks Rob!

I am really supprised by the speed you fix bugs!

Just another suggestion: the SlicknesS emerald theme's window title font is too blurred, and very unconfortable for the small title font setting.

I suggest you modify it in the theme. But this is trivial, I just did it in emerald theme manager.

For the sake of Rob's high-quality standard... ;)

N.B. It seems this thread is much more active than the emerald theme so I posted here.

While adding a launcher item to gnome main menu, I found this problem in the select icons dialog box.

Thanks for reporting!!!

Those bugs will be very tricky to fix tho!

Since firefox doesn't obey gtk, and the cropped
menu button because I don't know the exact
class of that widget,,, I will try to figure it out tho :)

Thanks againg!!

Just wanted to ask, since I don't seem to get
that box/window to pop up and therefor I can't see
the bug , and if I can't see the bug I can't possibly
fix it :)

so please, could you explain exactly what button
you clicked on to get that window to show???

the "new item" button opens the launcer editor for
me which works fine :)

Thanks!

//Robert

Hi Rob,

I found another one in GIMP:

This happens when I try to resize a layer in gimp.

Thanks,
Shannon

Thanks for reporting!

That is caused by the same bug, I have a fix for it
,however, that removes a feature I like myself,
(that the button next to textentry kinda integrates with the entry), I can upload a new version
with that bug fixed, but I still prefer it with the
bug and the feature myself, I don't know, you tell me :)

Hi Rob,

I am sorry I cannot imagine what you mean by that feature, is that convenient for you to send me a screenshot comparing these 2 designs? If so, pls send to xrfang@gmail.com, thanks a lot!

Also one question. menu bar in first ones had a curve on each end. I read you said u need be in 1280 to see this. I am using wide screen moniter so I am set to 1400x900. is there way to make it work at this resolution?

Those where actually fake :)

Just images I loaded in the panel properties :)

So the images I made where for the overglossed
theme and the images where only 1280 px wide :)

sry to disappoint you...

 v1.7

And my favorite theme gets even better!

EXCEPT... I think that you lightened up the menus a bit too much. They now look a bit washed out. But that's just a statement of personal taste, not a criticism.

Thank you!

Your compliments is really appreciated :)

As for the menues, you are right, it's just that
I use compiz-fusion so I get some sort of transparent
effect on the menues and they look better with
that now than they did before.... I will improve them
to look better without transparency to next release!
