Description:

Gorilla SVG v1.4 for KDE

If you would like to see where I got most of the icons then check out this site...
Jimmac - http://jimmac.musichall.cz/

For more info check out the README file...

Original Art By - Jakub "Jimmac" Steiner

Changelog:

NEWS: (09.13.05) well that didn't last very long? Momo where are you???
ok so it seems I back to hosting them :(

NEWS: (02.23.05) Momo has offered to host both Gorilla & Korilla, so for the time being both will stay up on kde-look. If anyone out there would like to start a rework on these projects, just let me know... Thanx Momo!

NEWS: (02.22.05) I feel this theme has out grown it's usefulness and since I no longer use KDE "at least not as my main Desktop" I feel it is pointless for me to continue hosting it. Plus I would rather use the web space for other things...

So if there are no objections, in a weeks time I will be removing Gorilla, Korilla, and all other related projects from my personal space & kde-look...

NOTE:

If someone would like to take on the burden of hosting & maintaining these works then please, drop me a line...

P.Yavitz - systemx@comcast.net

v1.4 - Made almost all of the Action Type Icons (Toolbars) SVG and also changed and added a few new ones to the list.

This release is kinda a beta version of what is to come. Don't expect it to be as complete looking as v1.3.5. Expect to see some bugs! Also this release doesn't come with a Extras or KDM folder. Feedback would be nice, Thanx... (New Screenshot #3)

Nice! I tried expanding the Gorilla set a while ago but never got very far. I had a nice mix of Gorilla and Freeicons (3D ones).

I haven't checked all of yours, but these are oftne left out. Could you please do:
kdevelop, kate, digital camera device, digital camera application, digital camera mimetype, perl & python sources that are a little more inventive than plain with a few dots (what is usually done for them!), all the mimetypes for koffice and openoffice.

Also, I know it's your set, but I'd really like a full Gorilla set whose colours are more pastel, more beige than red, matt than shiny, if you see what I mean? Your choice though :)

When are you going to include the 128x128 version of these icons? You'd be suprised how many people actually use those.

Where'd you get the mono wallpaper? Did you create it yourself? It's really slick!

 different sizes

it's a bit confusing, that e.g. the gimp icon is different in 64x64 and 32x32. Sometimes i see another preview version of an icon.

It's nice so see that icons on my kde desktop, thx. I hope this will be in SVG one day, i think the original is even in SVG. I think have it somewhere on my hdd.

 The SVG Factor

by systemx on: Jul 15 2003

Score 50%

OK! I see people are wondering why I am not using the original SVG icons... Here is the reason. Do you know the difference between a gnome icon & a kde icon? Most gnome icons are made at a different width & height then kde icons. For instance a 64x64 icon in KDE would be something like 80x64 in Gnome. That also goes for the SVG icons... Gnome icon are normally also not as closely cropped as KDE icons. So if I just took a gnome icon and didn't crop it to the right size you would see a very distorted & oddly shaped image. Of course this isn't a fact for every Gnome icon, but for a large majority of them it is.

You can see an example of this in the KDE Gorilla Icon set I am working on. Take a look at the folders in RC2 & then look at the folders in RC2+ you will see a very big difference in how they are shaped and how they appear while in use...

Another reason I am not using SVG icons is because I am not as familiar with those application as I am with other's like Gimp. I am learning though...

I hope this clears up the SVG factor for everyone...
